No mate, you're thinking Facebook is for friends. You open a business page, we get between 500 and 100 worth of work off it a month. No friends, just potential custies. We use it for the carpet cleaning part of our biz.

It's going quite well, but at this time of year it gets a bit slow for glass work. We started the glass page about 8 weeks ago I think. The carpet page is up a year, and that runs OK. Just don't mention prices on the wall, only in PM's. Most custies PM you. About 30% post questions on the wall.

cozy that is a big area you cover mate, I have been in most of these places but there is a fair distance between them all is there not? are you driving out to give quotes or just quoting from the knowledge of the houses on each quarter

I know all of the areas mate.  We also give quotes when we are in the area anyway. The working radius is about 80KM's. The furthest id about that. Paderborn.

LWC, you don't have to pay to post an advert on some Facebook page. It's all free advertising mate.

Business page, the window & carpet page isn't a business page, it's a standard page opened for us by a custy .When we opened the second page (BFG Window Cleaner) it asks you what kind of page you wish to open. I can't remember, but I think it walked us through a biz page. On this new type of page, there is more info for the owner. How many clicks you got, how much traffic etc etc.

As for posting on other pages, shouldn't make any difference. Why yours flicks to PM's, I don't know. Another thing is, when you open a business page, you don't have a personal messege button, so you need to keep posting a link so people can PM you. Most of the questions come through PM's.
Don't forget, if you have a problem with Facebook, ask a kid to sort it for you!!! I'm too old. ;D

Good idea, the trick is though, DON'T bother posting on your own wall, nobody reads it. You just need to post ads on other peoples walls and get as many as possible to go to your page and ask questions. That's how you get the custies and jobs. Don't use it as twitter, just as an advertising tool.

Find as many local pages like clubs etc and post on them. We post something like " Hi there, we are a local firm and we offer window cleaning in the following areas. Please feel free to join our group (link) quotes are free blah blah.

I'm looking into setting up something like this. I have my facebook page pretty much completed bar a few tweaks, I have messaged my friends on my personal page and have 21 people "liking this"

Obviously to get your page to more eyes I like the idea of posting on groups pages.

My question is....what has the reaction been from groups that you've posted your link on? Are they not a bit peeved at you just advertising your services and not having any genuine interest in their group?

King, before you post ads on other pages, it's always a good idea to PM the admin and ask if it's OK to post. Just good manners. Never had a problem really, but the pages I post on are mostly buy & sell pages, so ads are welcome anyway.

Everything in place there mate. Looks good to me. Try some local clubs (Rugby, tennis, horsey stuff etc) and don't make the mistake of thinking everyone who likes the page actually reads it all the time!! It's not twitter, but a good free advertising platform when you post often enough on other pages. Good luck mate. ;)
