I think extendable ladders are banned. They have to be one piece, orange(or silmilar) and tied.

We cover mostly builders cleans and on with all but one customer ladders and stepladders are allowed.

All work has to be fully risk assessed and copies left, along with loads of other H & S doc's with both the site manager and head office. Insurances also have to clearly state that employees are covered for working up to a certain height.

For the one Customer that has a full ladder ban in place (including steps) we have found that once on site they actually tell us to use ladders. This is to save the cost of hiring specialist access equipment. Work that one out!!!  ???

Ladders are always going to be a necessary evil. As long as they are not used for prolonged spells of working and the user operates within specified boundaries as set out in the risk assessment / method statement then all will be fine, or as fine as anything can be.

Just don't look down  ;D

well i have been on sites where they are banned so  :P :P

And i don't have a problem with you using them on sites, wahd does allow for it, but as i said the sites that have disallowed them , did so to save the hassle, but they arent illegal....

however to say that no sites have banned them is not true i know of some that have and have of others too

In fact last year i was helping ronnie on here with a job in st helens and they didnt even allow step ladders

WFP is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard on builder's cleans. Try shifting compo, mastic, gloss or identifying scratches or other damage when using a WFP.

Not kicking off, just stating the ever so obvious, to true Pro's that is  ;)
