Title: Lifting brush to rinse or not?
Post by: Luke B on February 21, 2011, 07:14:58 pm
Ive read that if you have a monofilament brush you dont need to lift it off the glass when rinsing. Is this true and does it work ok not to?

How do you tell what is a monfilament brush from another type?

Also with fan jets is it also possible to rinse without lifting? I'm trying to make life easier for mysulf when doing 2nd or 3rd storey.
Cheers

The mono filament: if one looked at the bristles they are the same thickness from root to ends  as flocked the end of the fibre looks crushed. What I do with either type of brush I would wash the glass and to rinse I keep the brush at the top of the glass against and firmly against the glass as the water builds in the brush. With one swift movement pull the brush down against the glass.( not to much pressure on the brush)This moves a large amount of water down over the glass and will rinse any dirt that might be on the glass. Its like a flush movement.

Always rinse brush on, why use light poles then struggle rinsing brush off, defeats the object of using lighter, rigid poles to make work for oneself.

Thanks! I'll try those suggestions...
I use a CLX for most 1st floor work, great pole; a Brodex gf 26ft for 2nd storey and a Wilko broom handle with handlebar grips for some ground floor!

Another way to rinse is to rest one end of the brush on the glass and lift the other end. This makes it a lot easier on higher windows.

so in a sense if you leave the brush on the glass........your cleaning twice? ??? ???

i dont rinse any other way now - fan jets, mono brush, high flow rate.

apart from very big windows rinsing comprises of the brush sitting at the top of the glass with a sweep left to right and back again ( this produces a lovely curtain of water ) - job done.
