Title: Scotchguard
Post by: Jamie Pearson on February 21, 2011, 03:00:22 pm
Now that my old man has retired from the business I decided I would clear out the remains of his filling cabinet.

I came across his original Scotchguard applicators license which must be from the late 70's/early 80's.

Does any of the old skool on here still apply Scotchguard or have you moved onto other brands?

I know Chemspec took a chunk of the market with their Stainshield when Scotchguard was found to have carcenogens in its original formulation.

Think  a few still use it and are licensed to apply it...

So its only the factory applied/carpet retailer stuff that carries a warranty now then?

I have lost touch with how they work it, I do know  the people that handle their customer support though.

I should ask them really I suppose.

Does everyone suggest protector to their clients?

Don't think the issue was carcinogens rather that it wasn't bio-degradable. Price of the stuff is rediculous now.

Yeah it had a benzene based element to it. I remember a Chemspec press release.

This was the reason for the launch of Stainshield Professional and Enviroshield by Chemspec.

It was the only component part that differed from Chemspec Stainshield.
