http://www.alltec.co.uk/page/1sml9/Portables/Second_Hand_Van_Truck_Mount.html
Looks a great machine and set up but I'm thinking it's a bit over priced given the van is only worth £5.5k'ish so is the machine and accessories worth £12.5K?
Any thoughts on the machine and pricing?

Cheaper on EBAY

Simon It looks like a piece of kit for a company rather than a one man on his and i am not sure there are that many companys out there with sufficient work to warrant a top unit like this.I have noticed alot of kit for sale on ebay etc that really isnt getting either sold or anywhere near what it should be worth.Theres that word again WORTH which ultimately equals what someone will pay for it.Anyway thats my opinion.Regards Alan(swindon)

been for sale for a while now, i reckon 15k to 18k all in would start generating some keen interest.
-
Just spoke to the guy, he paid £46,000 + vat for it so hence his high secondhand price. The van is only worth £3.5 - £4.5k, tops so that values the machine and accessories at over £12k which I think is too much for a machine with 3,000 hours on the clock.

prob worth 15 at a push but he will be lucky to get 10 for it at this moment in time van is only worth 3 tops
-
i bought a blazer gt from prochem brand new and fitted 6 months ago included most of the bits and bobs for £11,500
plus vat.it was fitted into a vivaro high top which i already had, probably only worth £4.000 its great.
The van in the ad gives you 2 wand capability if you dont need that then buy new.The way this economy is going i can see some good deals coming on van mounts haggle

I will have a 1000 hour blazer and van for sale in the next month for not much more than 5k , some people ask silly money.
-
Obviously the guy is hoping to get as much back as possible on his initial outlay you cannot blame him but its a lot of money for a machine with that many hours on it
-
there has never been a better time to upgrade from a porty to a trucky buyers market
-
is it not like buying a new car. Buy second hand and let some one else get hit with the steep depreciation.

my tm was less than the price of a triple vac with less than 200 hours on it. It maybe an entry level tm but its certainly transformed my business
-
At £43 grand he's paid top dollar for it but doesn't realise that with 3,000 hours on the clock it is passed it's best and well into the high maintenace part of it's life which makes it worth a lot less than he thinks.

I nearly upgraded a few years ago thinking bigger was good then the market changed as they all do!! I then stated of with a 20quid numatic (which I’ve still got) if I were to sell my tm I would value it in the region 4 to 5k with an EARNING POTENTIAL OF £1000 - £2000 PER DAY ;)
-
This TM must be approx 5 years old as it's a 50hp model where the newer Thermal Waves are 62hp, I'm sure the deal was £46000 inc of vat as I enquired about one, Dave Lee paid simular and he all the bells and whistles.

Any idea how much this unit cost five years ago?

Yep, its been around for a while now, those extra wheels and tyres for snow etc looked good at the time.
Also it has a HGV exempt certificate or similar so that means its over weight or similar so you cant get your normal mechanic to look at it, what happens at MOT time? Do you take it to your normal garage or to HGV test station and believe me having been a HGV driver you dont want to go to one of those places for a test. They look at everything.
Thats going to take a lot of looking after, its not the sort of setup you leave on the drive and run a heater into in the winter. That will need a unit or similar to store it.
While I and lots of us want a Thermal Wave etc when the prices start to drop we start to look, but like a Rolls you want one but how do you afford to run one, when you look at them up close there is no chance of most of us getting our hands dirty trying to fix one, they must be a plumbers nightmare all those pipes, valves, switches etc.
He is or was obviously a fast tracker and its funny that none of the others on it have taken it off them. Might do better if it was sold as a machine and van seperately.
-
If its done 3000 hrs what does that equate to in £ 's ? I know theres alot of variables but would say £100 an hour be fair ? Thats £300,000 over 5yrs - £60,000 a year.
Is that good ? For he investment.

The problem I have with this is the price, the machine would oprobably be perfect for us but if I paid the £17950 + vat asking price, it wouldn't be worth that the moment I drove down the street in it.

Check out the spiel on ebay:

EARNING POTENTIAL OF £1000 - £2000 PER DAY
If a machine WAS EARNING YOU THAT MUCH A DAY, WHY WOULD YOU BE SELLING IT?

with ONLY 62 hours on it, fully kitted out with tanks reels hoses shelving,
and a nice blue astro turf floor to match my machine :) oh and a pair of size
9 shoes (used) which did the deal for me ;D even though i use size 8 !!!

The guys from up the road to me and having seen his pricing I'm not surprised he's trying to get so much for it. Once a fast tracker always a fast tracker.
Apparently he needs the money freed up to get a new unit to work from.
I did give some thought to this set up but it's too much for the overall set up. The machine I might be interested in if he was willing to sell without the van, but I don't want a van that falls into the HGV bracket although I do have HGV licenses.
He'll probably end up selling it back to Altec which reminds me, because the add says it won't be released by Altec until the cheque has cleared. What's all that about?
-
Probably means he has leased it from Altec...and they are the real owners. I would want it in writing first that Altec have been paid in full and it is his machine to sell....otherwise walk away
-
I don't think a HGV test certificate means it requires an HGV licence to drive it, my van has to be MOTd at a class v11 test centre but can be driven on a car licence....but i might be wrong
-
Its not an HGV until it goes over 7.5 ton, up 7.5 ton can be driven on a car licence as long as you passed your test before 1999 (i think)
-
Think your spot on Mike my camper is 5 ton loaded it has to go hgv test but drive on car licence up to 7.5 ton
Cheers Tony
-
Mmm, was wondering why he was selling me all the benefits, waterproof floor, electric reel etc etc etc fastrack - fasttrack!!!!
