Hi,

I would probably put money on it that a new owner would have trouble free motoring with Gav's van. I know this sounds mental, but when I was in the motor trade, I can recall numerous times that a car or van gave nothing but trouble to their owner. Out of desperation the owner traded it in for another car and their 'pup' was sold onto another and gave no problem whatsoever from then on. I can remember a particular person thanking our sales manager for finding him the most reliable car he had ever owned. Explain that!

It even happened to me. In the early days overseas I owned a 1960 Volvo Amazon, which cost me every penny I earnt in repairs and maintenance. The last straw was when it threw a ring and I ended up stripping the engine down, getting it rebored, crankshaft ground and rebuilding it. In fact my girl friend's father used to refer to it as my Involver. After it was running again, I sold it. A couple of years later I saw it in town and spoke to the owner, who told me which garage he bought it from (the one I sold it to) and that he had had no problems mechanically with it at all.

Had I kept it, would it have done the same for me? I doubt it.
