Title: im getting better results with own leaflets than flash ones
Post by: prestige cleaners on February 14, 2011, 07:11:27 pm
been printing my own leaflets say 3 to an a4 paper, on a hp laser toner worth £80. and im getting more call backs from not at homes than i did with the double sided full colour ones i had printed 3 yrs ago. (cost £130 for 5000) havent had to canvass since, but lost a few jobs so got to build it up a bit

ive had about 5 jobs call up in the last couple of weeks, just standard size houses say 10 windows, and there all willing to pay £20,

dont think i will bother with professional looking leaflets anymore, waste of time. ive got £2000 worth of in 2 weeks, just with diy leaflets, anyone else find this?

you must be in a rich hotspot to get 20 quid for standard  houses.  my own homemade leaflets are trawling in work with no problem but thats at 10 quid a house .£8 if i really want to clinch it

i do them 8 weekly, they dont mind paying it then, plus i get more customers that way. and it helps when im behind like in the freeze, i can catch up, whereas people who do montly jobs sometimes lose their income cos they get so behind

Prestige I also find my self printed leaflet works well for me.I also use the cheap paper I find I can adapt my leaflet to suit my area and market needs.

I have said this all along and people have ridiculed me for it. Home made, photocopied leaflets work better than flash printed ones. It fits in more with what people would expect from a window cleaner and they feel more comfortable with it, and you.
Its a fact, I know it, other people seem to have trouble getting their head round it. They go off at a tangent and start on about wanting to look professional etc. They miss the point, thats not what the customer is looking for, they want local and reliable Joe.

For the most part I would agree with your assessment Vince.
However, there  are certain customers for whom this may not apply IME.
I save the fancier stuff for the plusher places as they are more likely to be looking for something a bit more special.
Of course that isn't always the case but people in plusher places are more likely to want the glitzier type of leaflet.
Not wanting to stereotype but just trying to play the probabilities.

mines more like 75p a window! ::)

how on earth can you justify such high prices?or is this a first clean price?

In one breath your saying that you had 5 jobs in two weeks =£100 but in your last paragraph you claim that you got £2,000 worth in two weeks!! Think you may have got your sums wrong there mate.

I was just talking about leaflets left at not at homes, the total I've made from door knocking face to face, and call backs adds to 2k. Don't get jealous over my prices, try it yourself the customer is getting a bargain, as if it monthly they would be paying 15 quid. So they're saving 10 quid every 2 months with me.

Sorry to disapoint Daz I to get 2 pound a window average it must just be the area and the attertude of the windies that opperate their. One does not need to justify prices if the customer likes the job and is happy to pay.thats it.

Use flash leaflets and people will think you are expensive, or they see those colourful glossy papers beside the front door and they instantly think they are pizza menus and bin them without a second look. Better off using plain black and white photo copies.

If the customer is happy to pay it, it's justified.
