If I change the setting on the forum for my email address to be shown to public I notice that it is shown in the webpage source code.
Does this mean that is is easy pickings for the spam bots?

I would say not a problem because you have to log in to see anything. Anyway I've been here since 2004 and the email I use in my profile is probably the least spammed I've got.
