We have 10'000 flyers going out over the next three weeks across our area, is there anyone out there with experience of what we can expect in leads.
How do flyers work for you ??
-
I think the stats are about 3% per 1000 but I think there are different situations like time of year, springtime is usually a good time for leaflets and canvassing but it can vary from area to area
-
Marketing companies say 1-3% return on flyers/leaflets but don't be shocked if its nearer 0.5% given the economic climate right now.
Are you paying to have these delivered? If so be careful!
end part of 2009 I had 10,000 flyers dropped, so I thought, but the response told me they hadn't dropped 10,000!
Paid over £500 too!

Hi Matt.
Yes we are paying but we pay £420 per 10000 printed and delivered with carpet cleaning one side and windows the other.
Wish us luck !!!!

All the best Simon.

Matt, great video on your website, love the gutter vac. I have been told that videos can create a great deal more leads from your website conversions.

After leaflet dropping i always end up a week later going around to the estate to ask if they got my leaflet and would they be intrested... some say no some say i did get it but never got round to ringing you. when they say that your half way there...always listern to what they say and look out for tell tail signs...if they start asking questions to you there almost there in taking you on....

It was 3 years ago, as I said. I dread to think what the return would be now. Wouldn't surprise me if it was the same as you had.

I'm still waiting lol
I have had the odd one contact me through my website, but nothing major.

Its a bit hit and miss in my opinion. I've taken out 800 so far this year but no enquiries yet. I've started to take them out myself to cut down on costs and keep fit.
-
You can expect an average return of 1%-2%
Your costs should be in the region of £15-£30/1000 leaflets so say if you charge £10/job this would give you a good return on your initial investment
Repeat the process every 6 months and get your customers under contract
A business is only worth what is on paper
A business cannot be given a value on goodwill

i'm dropping 10k flyers in the next week all by myself will post up the results

There seams to be a focus on numbers only which any marking consultant will tell you is not the only criteria you would need to look at. The content of the leaflet is also very important. Remember who you are trying to make contact with. (What type of custies would they be?) Colour will make a longer impression and colour will have some effect most people.
Your chose of wording needs to connect with the market you are trying to capture asp.
Photos are also very affected as most custies are visual and will be attracted by pics before reading.
Don’t be scared to be adventures.( but don’t be crude) If there were 5 leaflets through the letter box would yours stand out.
My return on leaflets is 2-3 per 80 leaflets and I have had as much as 5 per 80.This will depend on the market saturation is your area. The reason I quote 80 is that I bundle my leaflets in 80 packs. Hope these pointers will help. ;) ;)

Im planning on a 50,000 leaflet drop soon, i think im gonna leave it till around the time the clocks go forward ;D
-
i have nearly done a 5000 a6 leaflet drop response was about 0.1% but thats ok because some people may wait a while before contacting me. plus i only had a mobile number no landline on the leaflets.
im just waiting for the printing company to email my proof for the next 5000 leaflets and these leaflets have got a landline number on them so im hoping for a better response ;D
-
ok ok
Having read through the replys I simply cant believe the figures people are coming up with.
I think its safe to say there is no other uk company that has delivered more leaflets than us in the last 3 years - feel free to let me know if anyone beats our 350,000 in that time.
All this 1-3% is rubbish. If you have a good leaflet, good weather, dont deliver it with more than 2 other items then you might get an average return of 0.5%
next point is it is a total waste outside of the April-Sept window, outside those times your average will be 0.1%
Save your money, buy more than 10k go for 30k, wait till april and in the mean time find yourself someone to deliver for you, the rate should be £20-£35 per 1000 depending on how fast they go out and how many other items go with it. Dont be affraid to pay good money if they are delivered alone.
I hope that helps

Lee,
Have you ever sent your leaflets out with the local newspaper??

No I have not nor would I. I would rather burn them to keep warm. Over the years I have done royal mail 120,000 which was good.
These days I have a team of 6 or 7 leafleters which I built over a 4 year period in 2 ways only
1 recomended to me by people I know with their own business
2 while im out cleaning windows if I spot someone leafleting I ALWAYS approach then and ask the question.
Now we can get 7k out a week at full power but usually go for 3 or 4 per week

A bit more on the newspaper thing
I live in a huge (4000 houses) new built estate
prime leafleting country in other words. In the 18 months I have lived there I can honestly say I have never had more through my door each week than here, I keep meaning to count them it must be 50 per week.
That considered I am someone with a business built on leaflets and am interested in others that come through my door
1 If 1 or 2 come through I always look
2 If 4 or so come I might glance
3 if a handfull come I put them in the bin every time
4 I get the free news paper, sometimes I read it but ususally it goes in the bin and if there are leaflets in there I NEVER look at them.

lee what company do you use for leaflets i use fairprint from ebay 5000 a6 300gsm card double sided for £62 :)
-
I use a local company run by a friend of mine.
I think thats a very good price for that weight
I by in batches of 30,000 A5 double side on 130gsm £450.00 no VAT
-
30,000 A5 130gsm double sided £386.25 on the doorstep, very good quality too :P
Really struggling to find a decent distributor, cheapest one so far is £40 exc vat >:(
-
that is a very good price, mine are exactly the same spec and amount this year for £500 no VAT
-
if you can get 5 -10 houses from it your doing well but once your working at the 5 - 10 houses others will see you and you may end up with alot more from that.
get some of your flyers and go down the roads you already do - sure theres a few houses in those roads you dont do yet.
put a bit of card on the top stating the very satisfied customer you already have in that road and then hopefully you will pick up the odd few houses you dont do in those roads thus making your round more compact and work better for you.

Try Mark and DP Design and print mate ;)

Well that's how most domestic rounds are valued isn't it ???
Thats what he is saying,..
its not a business until the contracts are signed, ... and most dont have them, meaning its not a real business, therefore , when you sell your round, you can only get 2x - 3x 4x ... cleans....
goodwill rates.

Ive dropped about 100-1500 and managed to get Dr Windows about £75 worth of work from it , i dont think its more so the return i think its more about getting the correct flyer and information on the flyer...
Finding an area without a wc is the best bet , BUT i posted some leaflets yesterday (250ish) and within a few mins of posting a flyer through a door i have a phonecall of an elderly woman- nice £10 clean ...
