Title: upholstery cleaning
Post by: daniel harbut on February 06, 2011, 06:38:12 pm: I haven't had a lot of experience in upholstery cleaning and would appreciate some advice...

Firstly - what pre spray and/if any detergents do you recommend?

Secondly - I have been recommended the machine i have linked below, does anybody have any experience with it?

Post by: Shaun_Ashmore on February 06, 2011, 06:51:40 pm: Any machine is as good as you make it but IMO I think for a beginer it's a great starter option and an excellent way of building experience with fabrics as it's virtually fool proof, Ideal Rob who frequents on here sometimes will tell you how easy it is to use as he has done 1000's with a simular machine.

Post by: Chris Small on February 06, 2011, 08:38:22 pm: Great machine, used mine for 2 years now. Comes with soft white brushes but the harder black brushes make life a lot easier. Use pro-active prespray when necessary and vary the detergent dilution to the job.
Also good for manky stairs and rugs!

Post by: Carpet Dawg on February 06, 2011, 09:01:57 pm: It is expensive. Aparantly dry foam cleaning is alot faster than hwe. Never used it myself so cant comment if thats the case. Maybe more effective on suits that aren't so minging.

Pre vac, presprayed with prochem fabric prespray, 8min dwell, lightly agitated, then extracted with Prochem fibre and fabric rinse. Light mist of prochem odour fresh. Blowers on. 1 x chair + 1 x 3 seater. took 1hour 10 mins and was dry when i left.

I prefer HWE. Find it does a more thorough job.

It is a Von Schrader machine.

Too expensive.

Alternatives are from DryFusion and Solutions Cornwall, maybe others so dont rush to spend your money - look at whats available then see if YOU really need it or could you do as good a job with the HWE gear you have.
