Title: vans broke

just cought up and now the  (well i think)  the starter motor has packed up on the van transit connect time to change vans gonna look at a vivaro tomorrow before i tow the piece of plop to the gagage that way if i buy it i can wip the system out before taking it

pre 05 are the ones too get plus they are cheaper!

Older vivarro is prone to needing new gearboxes. Newer models are supposed to have this fault sorted.

thanks dd you took the words right out of me mouth. if the newer one are no good then i think we need to tell the aa and bt and all the others because they mite not know ;D ;D ;D

on these vans trafic vivaro n primastar
all 1.9dci french rubbish engines
gearbox problems
turbo problems
cat problems
engine management problems
infact anything that can go wrong
will and it will cost pure dollar ;)

a  m8 runs a 06 he as had
no problems at all
he swears by his  ;D

Had my 56 traffic 1 week now and its still running fine P & F  ;D ;) passed the MOT with flying colours!!  8)

why dont u try doing starter urself? its only 2 bolts & three wires.

and if u insist on going garage, no need to tow, just bump start it.

appreciate the heads up on the pre 05 plate being bad are they really that bad they sell like hot cakes for strong money too

just get a new or reconditioned starter motor fitted!!you dont have to buy another van!!unless you ve had enough of the connect? ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

if your scrap yards are as CRAP as the ones up hear then you'll struggle getting 2nd hand one. For Transit van i paid £90 brand new for one, and got £15 back when i took my old one back in

fixed it diddnt mess about took starter off phoned around 2nd hand between 30 and 50 no garantee so bought a new one £100 sod it all up and running

get stuck into em, even buy a haynes manual, you'll find you can do minor (& probably some major) repairs yourself if you got a good set of spanners & sockets

changed starter motor on 05 scudo today....a few grazed knuckles and ;) a bit o swearing
but not too bad ...bout 2 hours in total ;)
