Title: anyone washed a sealed drive and not known?

is it easy to tell if a drive has been sealed? always wary of this and dont want caught out and make a total mess of something.

hi jsmc  the answer is in your question !   in my opinion sealing is a total waste of money. time. & effort.   i would only suggest sealing brand new !   then why buy something only to change its apperance.    i would love to come accross a GOOD sealer (product or person)   never mind why should i complain   i had a dozzen jobs last year removing the bloody sorry nice stuff

no i am asking if anyone has washed a sealed drive and not known. what can you do to tell a drive is sealed. I have hear dpeople having probs trying to clean them

hi j. what method do you use to shift acrylic seal and what about polyeurathane sealer like resibock which is supposed to be a right !!!!!!! to shift.

hi jsmc  all the sealed jobs i have been to estimate with view to washing them are scaby and with bits as big as your hand flakeing off     then the custy is not realy asking you to wash it  but to repair it or remove it    all the washing in the world will not make a sows ear into a silk purse     if in dowt and you have pride/reputation   wallk away and dont just think pound notes

so it is easy to identify a sealed drive then? any pics of damage on drives to keep me in the right direction.

You could always do what i do and ask the customer if the drive has been sealed in the past.
They usually know  ;)

its easy to tell if the drive has been sealed. its easier to clean. you can just tell.

Sealed drive will be smooth and 9 times out of 10 have flaking or white patches(blooming) on it.It will look varnished and might also be a grey dirty colour which will not wash off.If you re-seal do a test patch first to test for a re-action.Be ready for an abusive call 6 months down the line to go back and re-do because customers think it comes with a lifetime warranty,if i was you i`d stick to cleaning/sanding because you`ll only be sealing in July and August anyway and the outlay isn`t worth the profit.Dan
