Your website comes up blank Jamie. You should show a bit more detail about you and I'm sure some will help. I will if you can do that.

Guys

if you copy stuff then use

http://thebestspinner.com/

this will change it so much that it will not be a direct copy. it also helps when you are using articles as backlinks to your sites. This works like link directories except much better. lots of article directoroes like

http://ezinearticles.com/

google rates some of these as good links

if i asked "could i borrow your orbital sander?" you'd probably say yes. (providing you had one that is)

if i walked into the garage and took it you'd be rather pee'd off.

now ive put it that way!

FM ian, the running costs of your business must be astranomical, every link you put up costs mega bucks.

How much is a one way backlink worth to you? If you put 100 articles up over a year all with different link text back to your site the investment is paid for. Now if you had more than one site the investment gets cheaper with each one

Best Spinner is only about eighty dollars a year and in my opinion, is the best there is out there because it also exports in different syntacs.

I'm amazed you submit spun stuff to Ezinearticles though Ian. Did I mis read that?

Here's a FREE spinning tool. It's not quite as good as BestSpinner but it does a good job and is great for simple spinning.

You could start by taking some picies of your work ie before and after so you can show  when you go to do a quote or even when your with cleints.

I put letters of praise from clients and also complinment slips from my commercial work and alsosome  large high street companys i have done some cleaning for.

Hi Jamie

Its a photo album type and i just filled it up over a year with picies and leters and sometimes i used to get thank you cards too..You will build it up over time mate..Prob about ten pages..

You could even take some picies of your van and machine at work etc.

I don't know why your need a portfolio, do they actually look at it? I just go and dazzle them with my personality :D :D

most the commercial quotes I do are a walk through of the job, never really any time to look through a portfolio.

if anything i would make an A4 tri-folded brochure with everything a portfolio would have then leave it with the client to peruse when they have more time

Whats wrong with that? I do it all the time! lol

Thebestspinner is just that... The best!
I usualy spin a whole folder worth of txt files. (around 300 articles) minus the keyword rich title... Then hit "my favourite changes" and BANG 300 unique articles for google too molest!  ;D

Keyword density in the content? As long as it appears once,I'm not that fussed otherwise. I wouldn't beleive everything that Matt Cutts says, thats all i'm saying.

As Mike said, there's not much need in a portfolio.

But if you want to do one, i'd suggest some before and after pics, you insurance certificates (photo copied), customer recomenations (hand written if possible) and any training certificates you may have gained (photo copied)

How many pages? How many before and after pics do you have?

Mike

If you send them out to prospects that you dont get the work over the phone or on the visit over time you will pick up work that you might not have got.

we also use a letter inside our pack that says only open if you choose someone else. its an old JP letter and it works.

Some prospects will phone around so you want your name in front of them, and its just like one of your old customers getting a leaflet from another carpet cleaner at the same time as they need carpet cleaning. your chances of getting the job second time around reduce and the new guys get the chance to get the job.

We keep details of ALL prospects and mail them if we get the work or not. and i can say they do not remember the first guy.

Respect

Ian

Passed you the other day, you were heading down by Pollock Park  ;D.

The Achilles is still giving me jip and I have tendonitis in the other leg now. Its not stopping me from working which is the main thing.

Hows married life treating you?
