Title: time to get fit....for window cleaning!!
Post by: dazmond on February 02, 2011, 01:56:37 pm
enough is enough!! ::) ::)

ever since i went to new york at xmas ive ballooned to 18 and a half stone!im quite a tall well built chap at 6ft 2in but need to get healthier as im 40 years old later in the year and its about time i did something about it!!

i had a bad problem with booze/drugs for many years but im nearly 5 years clean and sober now and ive recently stopped smoking (again!!).

ive lost just over half a stone in 2 weeks so im coming in at just under 18 stone.i reckon if i get to 16 stone that will be my ideal weight due to my size and build.

all ive done for 2 weeks is work hard and cut down on carbs and ate a bit more fruit and veg and lean meat and fish.

i decided to take the day off and done a half hour swim at the local baths.

any tips on getting fitter lads? share them on here!!

did you feel better when you finally got rid of a bit of weight and noticed you could work better?

Good luck,

I'm 43 6'1 and now around 14.5 st, Gave up smoking almost a year ago, went through hell using Champix. Never really drank a lot until i stopped smoking then turned into a Alkie..lol

Walking/running and watching your food intake will be the most effective way of burning the pounds. Make sure you get a good pair of trainers.

I'm now running 3 miles in under 30 mins and hping o do a 1/2 marathon later this year.

Good luck.

Stopped drinking beer in the evenings now. Stopped smoking last August by reading Allen Carr's book. Been watching what I eat now for about 2 weeks and feel fitter already. Not sure how much I've lost but I will check in about 2 weeks.

Main thing is though, it's great to feel fitter.

I started 2 weeks ago, i was 16 n half stone, ive stopped eating after 3, i have a big breafast, a good enough dinner and thats it. I dont feel like im missing out, i still have biscuits and odd things here and there. I dont think it matters what you eat in the day, its evenings that were the worst for me. Ive also been doing (dont laugh) a workout dvd about 4 times a week and...

Ive lost a stone and a half in 2 weeks  ;)

Ive tried all sorts but cant stick to it cause i like food lol...just change the times you eat things. I have what i should of had for tea for breakfast...sunday lunch on a monday morning lol. OK some of you might no like it but i can see results and fast, and so have other people been noticing after only 2 weeks. Ive had "wheres the rest of you matt" and "have you been buying bigger clothes or something" as clothes are hanging off me now...

AND i feel GREAT!  :)

half a stone in 2 weeks is bad for you, all you will have lost is water. You need to loose weight over a longer period to benefit in the longer run.

Cut out the crap food and you should easily loose weight by window cleaning over the next few months.

I joined Slimming World last night. But because my bmi is over 30 I got 20 free sessions there. Was only two blokes there including me. Some potential snatch there too. I weighed in at 18st 41bs. I'm 6ft 3ins so my target weight is to lose about 3 stone.

I cant see how thats bad? Ive lost a stone and a half in 2 weeks...it certainly isnt water ive lost, ive burnt fat. Doing an hours cardio most nights its burning it off. And im not eating any less...just at different times of day and nothing in evening.

For those of you, who like me find hours of exercising boring - this looks interesting and apparently produces excellent results for just 4 MINUTES A DAY.

Check with your doctor first!!!!!!!

[1] Run/exercise absolutely flat out for 30 secs. ( and i do mean flat out! )
[2] Rest for 30 secs
Repeat 4 times in the same session just once a day.

Reports and a television test showed this method to have amazing results both for weight loss and fitness.

I repeat.....check with your doctor first !!!!!!
Surely we can all find 4 minutes a day  ???

the above will do nothing for your cardovascular fitness because you need at least 15 minutes to be of any benefit check out www.fitness4x4.com  this will get you fit and strong in about 2 to 3 hours a week you can buy the fitness4x4 workout at amazon it is called the Hour of Power fitness dvd, in my opinion this is also brilliant for us WFPers many on here talk about sore shoulders when using larger poles or lifting at funny angles but believe me when you get to a level of curling and pressing 20kg weights in each hand for hundreds of reps without stopping then a WFP seems like nothing

I'm 6 foot, 10 and half stone, 30 inch waist and not far off 50 !! I maintain this lythe physiqe by moving a lot and, most importantly not eating like a pig!!! And i don't care what anyone says, most people who over eat look to blame it on the types of food they eat and not the amount. Just like you, cutting down on carbs and eating more fruit, veg and  lean fish. You havn't mentioned cutting down your food intake, although i'll suspect you're gonna say that now. Try this...... just eat less in general. And yes i can demolish a big mixed grill or whatever you wanna give me, i just don't do it every day. The vast majority just overeat and look for stupid things like foods types and exercises to lose weight. Eat less !!! Its that simple. If i sound hard on people with a food addiction, its because people cut me no slack when i have a nicotine addiction  ;D  We've all got our problems, luckily, being fat aint one of mine  ;D

No its true. You need to be with them all the time to see what they eat (long term) and if they move about much. Many people say to me i eat like a pig and don't put any weight on. True i can eat like a pig, i can do a full cooked brekky, a pie and chips dinner, a nice big mash potatoe tea and a supper too. What you won't see is when i don't have a brekky, dinner and just have a tiny spag bol for tea and thats it for the whole day. If i've got time i'll eat, if i havn't i won't. Fat people make time to eat.

thats very true that " cutting down on your corrrrrn" ( as the farmer says) is the best way of all

all last summer i ran 2 or 3 times a week after work  and lost 2 stones that way.but then i lost the other 3 stone by eating like a sparrow , it doesnt take incredible willpower once you get in the habit of  not buying ANY choc etc

my customers have noticed the new slim me,some are a bit worried about it ,but im not.im now enjoying the ladderwork  and dont ache hardly ever

to think a year ago i couldnt put my socks on without sitting down !

My training in 3 miles on a treadmill everyday, before I start the day. 400 to 500 calories. But when first started, I would do a mile, maybe twice a week.
Weights a couple of times a week. Biulding muscule is important. Muscule burns calories, even in sleep.

well done bobby!!my weight has slowly crept up over the last few years without me realising it.i would like to do a bit of running but im aware of being 2 stone overweight and it wont be good for my knees so im going swimming again today and im walking a bit more.also a bit of yoga and meditation in the mornings even if its only for 10 mins makes me feel better.

I'd say that 10 and a half stones for 6ft is underweight even for a very narrow shouldered fella. And that 11 and a half to 12 stones is about "right".

I'd say that 10 and a half stones for 6ft is underweight even for a very narrow shouldered fella. And that 11 and a half to 12 stones is about "right".
And thats what the BMI says too. However the way BMI is derived is a subject of huge debate. A far more natural way with no skewed results is to look at pictures of working men in say...the year 1900 for example and see how they look to a bunch of working men now. Of course i would say that as i'm 6 foot and 10 and half stone! But the test for ....is your weight correct for your height is to see or know if you have any health problems through it. I'm certain i could put on two stone and you wouldn't notice but i don't have any health problems and i can run good !! Fat people will always look to the highest (lowest) weight they 'should' be. Fatness is an illness, it looks unsightly, has negative health implications and leaves the owners of fat with negative self esteem issues. Male erectile problems can result either with the male (through fatness) or with the fat females partner also !!!! Fat people also consume food uneccesarily and therefore are not environmentally friendly, they create more waste and generally they smell more through increased perspiration and evacuation.

google sixpackabs and do the workouts on youtube - 3 mins to 9 mins! You don't need much longer than that if you are training right

I'm 45 and always done some form of exercise. Played football most of my life and still trying   ;D plus I go circuit training at least once a week as well. Circuits are better than the gym IMO coz its not as boring and more  varied as long as you've got  a decent instructor.
     Good luck with it  everybody

I've just taken out almost a 1,000 leaflets in just over 2 hours. Which in milage terms is approx 4 miles!!
You don't need no expensive exercise equip or gym memberships just the good old legs!! Then either walk or run somewhere!!
