What are your views on the kangoo van?
Just been to have a look at one, T reg and done 110,000 miles. But it is in absolute mint condition, drives really well, had a new cambelt, timing belt, cylinder head gasket,exhaust valve and inlet valve and cam shaft pully so loads of work done to it with lots of receipts.
Guy is willing to £1100 for it. The age of the van puts me of but of all the vans I've looked at priced between about £1500 and £2000 it's seems in the best condition
I'm not mechanically minded at all so any opinions or thoughts on this really appreciated.

Very expensive
I let a diesel one with 72k on the clock with removable back seats go for 800 quid on a x the 3 years ago.found it a bit small but then again I had it for bouncy castles.

I would be asking to see receipts for the work done and other service history.
You say its had a new head gasket, valves, timing belt etc.
There must be a reason it needed this work, a head gasket only needs replacing if the gasket was damaged from overheating which could also potentially damage the cylinder head.
If it has had a professional repair and the work has been done correctley it should be ok but for this reason I would be asking to see garage receipts and history.

wouldn't pay more than £700
get a doblo m8,you will get a 51 for £1100
or a expert or dispatch same reg for £1100 bigger vans too and you get 3 seats

its to expensive.
as for the work done it is all repair work more than likely dew to broken cam belt?
that would cause bent valves and head would have to be removed to replace valves and then new cam belt needed. so really not a selling good point if this is the reason of new valves which it more than likely is why did the belt break? normally lack of servicing.
i wouldn't bother with it to many miles.

have a look at www.honestjohn.co.uk that will give a good idea of how much you should pay and about the car personelly its on the pricey side would pay £600 for it if in doubt dont buy it wait a bit the kangoo i have is fab but its off a 54 plate nice for wfp can carry 300 ltrs easy in her and gear can be stored easy on top of the inside roof

Its a Renault........................that should be enough to put any sane person off !

I bought an X reg one as a run around for our local work 6 months ago.
Its ended up covering for the longer distance work and averaged about 600 mile a week for the past 4 months and had no issues with it.

Had a look at a combo today, 02 plate, lpg, about 90,000 miles with fsh. Bit tatty in places but it's all pretty much cosmetic stuff. After a bit of haggling guy was prepared to let it go for £800 if we do the deal tomorrow.
I'm going to sleep on it but seems a good deal

Dont no much about the lpg Combos but had a 1.3cdti and it was the best van we ever had, just outgrew it :(

how many garages around you sell lpg?
i had a van a few years ago and only had 2 local garages that sold lpg and they where both about 10 miles away in opposite directions was a real pain i ended running on petrol more than gas.
and sometimes they would run out of gas so just drove 10 miles in one direction to find they had no gas then got to drive 20 miles to the other garage then home 40 miles in all just for some gas. it was i real nightmare having to try and plan going to get some gas i sold the van in the end and got a diesel because you can buy it anywhere.

id check out its MOT history on the govt mot website . what it failed on previous years and it checks its mileages over the years ,all free and in seconds online . you need the number on the top of the m.o.t. certificate to do the check

Had a combo too, superb vans, it got written off.
It will need a cambelt change soon at that mileage which is another 200quid.
Make sure its done too.

Also if its got the LPG tank inside the van rather than underneath make sure you have enough room to fit a WFP system if thats what you are buying the van for.
