So what's the best way to stop a pinhole leak?

I don't think there is mich you can do apart from cutting the hose and put a joiner in it's place, if it's nearer the end of the hose that gets used all the time you could repair with a joiner then turn the hose on the reel so it won't be getting pulled out too often.

To prevent expensive plumbing problems you can temporarily fix pinhole leaks using common household items or a couple of cheap parts from the hardware store. Remember, this is only a temporary fix. Always call a plumber as soon as possible or replace the pipe yourself if you possess the know how.

Depends on the ID size of the hose, cut it out and then I would use an internal tube or st. spear joint, push it in tight with a dab of glue or superglue so you get a butt joint and nothing to snag.Or a smaller piece of hose as an internal joint, shouldnt affect the flow.

Can't believe no one has ever had to fix one of these. Call a plumber? What kind of answer is that.
I'm thinking a dab of araladite and then a wrap around with tape. I was wondering if someone had a better way, or a different method.
If you can't even come up with suggestions for that, how on earth do you cope with the enevitable kinks and tears you get in 3/4 transfer hose?

I don't think you use transfer hose jeff so you don't know what i'm talking about.Plenty will and with freezing and pulling out and in it kinks and splits. I have to use a full thirty metres, it's three years old, and i have about nine fixes on it.

I do want an answer to the pinhole leak on minibore.
As regards transfer hose if anyone wants to know how to fix this i can tell them.But if this is not an issue theirs not much point.

If you have nine repairs in your hose then I would respectfully suggest you replace it.
However - pinhole leaks - dry the hole, use puncture repair glue and wrap with gaffer tape. If that doesn't work then splice the hose with connectors and clips.
I have about 80 metres of hose and I had several kinks and holes in the first twenty metres or so and so I cut off about 30 metres and bought 30 metres of new microbore and spliced it in.

I don't have any faults, apart from one pinhole.
The transfer hose with nine fixes is a seperate issue.It kinks and then deforms and tears. Minus temps don't help.It's 3/4 and of the see through type.
Sean while i do figure a lot of things out from first principles it's always easier to be told if someone has already solved it.At the moment i'm thinking what malc said, put some glue in the hole and then bind very tight with tape.Every now and again you do get a surprise when someone suggests a fix and you think of course, why didn't i think of that.
Connectors don't work in my experience because they don't like being pulled hard and also with a hot system the constant hot/cold tends to move and loosen things.

Soldering iron,it fixed the transponder i cracked off someones satellite dish on monday by means of what i would call a plastic weld. I`d certainly be tempted to try it on minibore.

I've always just cut the end off the hose when it bugs me enough ;D .
I have a 100m hose (that I use as a backup) that is probably about 70m by now.
When I replaced my early hoses, I ensured that the replacement had a much thicker inner core. Been using that one a couple of years without any issues.

"self amalgamating tape", think thats what is called, sorry about the spelling, they sell it in b&q and maybe screwfix.
Its a rubber tape that welds to itself when wrapped a few times.

Agreed.The pressure on our systems is too high, in a static application ( a pipe that doesn't move, stretch, or get wound on, it would probably work.)
I tried to fix it today by bending the hose to expand the hole and putting glue in as a plug and then wrapping round with tape.This failled.
I've done fix two but not tested it yet, this time i'm using more of a sealant type glue.

Maybe go to a tyre depot and ask them to vulcanise it from the inside, but then they would have to cut the pipe to get access ???
