Ian 101,

Read some of your earlier posts last year when you started canvassing,
How many customers do you have now and how many did you get from canvassing?

Thanks,

Luke.

Hi Luke ... think i misread ur earlier post ... hmmm now got a full round about 50/50 from canvassing and buying customers ... still want another 90 odd though as binning the riff raff as we go ... no time or interest in bad/non payers or leave it this time (2 strikes allowed) or gardens that look like dog toilets when their is good quality work out there to be canvassed

We have the same. Customers getting canvassed and undercutters big time.

I dont blame them, everyone has to earn a living and pay their bills.  Definately a lot more this year.

Loads of sign written vans about.  Loads of hopes and dreams going to go down the pan, the odd one will persevere.

Its part of the job, just go out there and get them before anyone else does.No need to undercut, ive never had anyone complain about my prices when quoting on the doorstep.
New starters come and go.

I've only been doing this 2 years now but I've noticed that each year around this time there seems to be a rise in window cleaners you see and concern on here that work will be hard to come by and customers pinched etc.Still picking up plenty of customers though, much more than last year and if you do a good job and are fairly priced you'll have no worries imo.If somebody goes with another cleaner for the sake of quid then good riddance to them.

I find this sort of thing happens in my area in the spring and summer and when the winter comes they all go in hibernation. I always explain this to my custies and they agree and stay loyal. I have had a few that had left due to under charging and being promised the earth. There's nothing better when they come back to you cap in hand  ;D  ;D and you say told you so

Dont kid yourselves people are losing there jobs all over the place, government trying kick the scroungers off the benefits system, what do you think these people are going be doing?trying to earn a crust anyway they can that's what, some by stealing some by trying find a cash in hand job somewhere.I live in Wigan and believe me there are a lot of window cleaners round here but in last 2 years I bet the number has doubled

Happens every year one or two make a go of it but most only last a few months. I agree if a custy switches for a quid or two good riddance. When they come back the price has gone up!

Quite agree mate. Everytime I go out I see at least two new signwritten window cleaning vans in my area. I'm still picking up new work so good luck to them.

nothing new to worry about Ian - its the cycle of life , someone used to clean the ones you do before you come along i bet , window cleaner's come and go , some get other jobs some die ... or like me , gav , jeff dia etc thats all you ever done and rack up the years .-  plenty of good work out there

my history - i was in the print in the late 80's big money ernt , then mortgaes went to 16 % so had to go out and do a few windows to make the payments - firm went tits up so just got a few more windys .... same ression story as most on here just 21 years earler  :)
