My pole is starting to wear when fully extended and spin . I dont think its the clams its the pole that is worn . Anybody got any tips to thicken the pole a little . has anybody wrapped a bit of electrical tap round the bottom .

dont put tape on it mate this wears off quickley and causes the pole to jam and it can take ages to get apart .

try tightning clamps, if that doesnt work, try a new clamp, this usualy works, about £15 for a clamp

When my poles start to spin and no more ajustment is possible i nip down halfords and get some clear laquer for over metallic paint , couple coats on each offending section , lasts about a month , i reckon there could be somthing better in the boat market , but dont get anything too thick .
I once tried the resin from a fibre glass repair kit , i put on too much and couldnt get the pole together , guess who then spent hours wet flatting it back again , but by god it made it rigid !

is it fibreglass or carbon fibre? i've got a carbon fibre facelift pole nearly a year old used every day and showing minimal signs of wear,
try replacing the clamps and if that doesnt work then the life of your pole is coming near to its end

try giving it a good deep clean first

I have had my facelift carbon pole for about 4 years now and spray it in 2 pack laquer about 3 times a year, but it is still good :)

Cut the pole lengths just below where it's always spinning through constant use. Pole will be like new again, no need to bother with new clamps.

how do you remove the clamprs from the bits youve saw off ?

you might wanna try sawing off the other end mate, tell me that was a gag

you could also try turning the section top to bottom before you try cutting it

im lost here ;D what bit of the pole gets cut here ? my facelift worn out most just below the clamp , thats why i asked how to remove the clamp , from the offcut of pole . you could also try turning the section top to bottom before you try cutting it
you still need to remove the clamp hows this done ?

DS just got your point mate , is it spinning on a joint when 2 clamps are together , or do you mean when the pole is at full stretch , e.g clamps at either end of pole section ?

Hammer the clamps off by sliding the hammer along the pole just before the clamp. Most of the clamps are only held on by a small amount of glue so they'll come off easy enough with a good couple of hammer strikes to break the glue seal. Cut off a couple inches where the pole is worn down and spinning, then reglue clamps back on again, simple.

sorry mate meant while the clamps are together , my pole as worn on 2 sections both sections are just below the clamps for around 3" . when the pole is fully extended i dont get any spining of the sections , but lower it and these 2 sections spin .

only 2 things you can do then , either use the laquer as mentioned or take the clamps off if you can and cut the pole past where its spinning then re glue clamps back on , if you do damage or cant get the clamps off then i think facelift do sell new ones , check first though !

The best thing to use is "carbon spray" its what they use when fishing pole sections wear.
its about £6.50 a tin from most tackle shops.
fishing pole sections take a battering more so than window cleaning poles.
