double besroom berber, quite heavily soiled, stairs and landing, lightly soiled.
3 hours to complete
Vacuum, prespray, aggitate, dwell, extract,
I wasnt happy with the results on berber, ok landing and stairs. There was a little furniture to move in bedroom.
I just seemed to be so disorganised, running up and down stairs for this and that.
I really need to speed up.
chems used split-x then acid rinse. will try and get some pics up think they may-be in computer heaven when i tried ti re-size them.
Any advice on organisation appreciated

i remember my first job, longe, seperate dining room, hall stairs and landing, with a truckmount, started at 9am and finished at 3pm :-[ :-[ :-[
don't worry about it paul, it all comes with practice, full 3 bed house in just under 2 hours now. like all things you'll speed up when you get used to it.

Was the client happy?
As per Derek above.
You may find they tell other people "he was really good. He took a long time getting it just right"
-
practice practice and more practice. all you need is jobs jobs jobs and you will be knocking them off in half the time.

Yes Garry
The custie was happy with result. I had played her down expectations on the berber. Stairs came up very good

firstly why are you concerned about how long its taken you. take your time learn on each job and speed will come naturally
-
Just takes time to get into a system mate.
It will all fall into place and less running.
My first job was a lounge and took me ages ;D
-
Don't try and keep up with more experienced cleaners that will come with time.
Anyway everyone works at different speed, I normally rush around like I'm in a hurry when I'm at a job, always have done even though I've tried to slow down.
Having said that when I did my first 3 piece suite took about 4.5 hours and the replies I got on here were "How bl**dy long" ;D
-
Thanks for all the replys, And encouragement.
Got another job friday remarkably simalar, berber Stairs and landing and bedroom really dirty. I do know the customer, And they have told me to do what i can, use what i want.
Basically i think it is trashed,
Do you have any thoughts what to hit it with.
Cheers Paul

Watch out, splash & dash merchant around.
I take it you've not allowed for setting up time in your calcs, tidying up at the end etc
-
House was empty,so didn`t have to move anything, bedrooms were not too bad just lounge and diner that was a chore
-
experience really does speed you up.
I'm now letting my technician do the wanding on jobs and I am amazed how slow he is, I had to tell him not to do so many dry strokes he was doing literally 8-9 dry strokes. he also keeps doing the same area.... like he forgets where he has been and does it again just in case.
I have to go out of the house and do something in the van to stop me grabbing the wand out of his hands and doing it myself
this is after 4 months of watching me.

I did 2 x 2 seater sofa's and 2 arm chairs today, there was also some staining from Demin jeans on sofa, took me 4 hours to do. I've only been going 6 months but it takes as long as it will take, don't worry about it. If you have earnt what you need to by the end of the day, who cares, that's all that matters, that and doing a good job. Customers were happy with clean and have now booked me for carpets.

How long does it take everyone to clean (on average) a Lounge diner, hall stairs landing? shall we say a 3 bed semi sized house.
Shaun
PS Me 1.5hr
-
1hr 30 to 1hr 45 Shaun
Was once told to "stop A to Zedding" with my CCing as I was the over caring perfectionist - and he was probs right when it comes down to the raw wage - however sometimes it is good and necessary to go back and slow down and really dig those skirting boards out!! depends how busy you are and how much you want to impress....
Speed is down to polished efficiency which comes with experience in the feild anything else is probs just p1ss takin grabbin the moolar!
Take as long as it takes for a proper result - rough with the smooth ALWAYS applies if you are really in it for the long term

lounge/diner HSL?
how long
ive done em in under an hour and ive done em in 2hrs plus, depends on a lot of things really.
ive had bedrooms that i can clean in 10 mins and others that take over an hour.
i think if it takes you a set time to do xyz rooms everytime then your not doing your job properly cos every rooms different,
for instance lets say 20 sq meters of carpet, i can prespray it the same speed and i can aggitate the same speed and i can wand the same speed, but most of the time, it dunt all come out, so you either say "all right darlin, them spots aint garn no where luv" or you stop at all the stains and spots and treat accordingly, which in turn is the time extender.
ohhhh shut up derek your yakkin on again. ;D
sorry guys i'm sleep analysing again. ;D

If I were taking this type of job on via a phonecall, (which I don't like doing because I like to be prepared for what's ahead), then I would say 1.5 to 2 hours.
That being from arriving on the driveway to leaving again.
-
I dont take 1.5 hrs Shaun ,, 90 mins that is a better amount of time to spend to do a proper job.

Sorry to diverse back to topic ;D
Your thoughts,Please I have been told to go for it................................
-
Paul you need to take loads of time until you get the job right there's no time scale at first.
Derek I did mention averages but it wouldn't be you to give a straight forward answer ;D but I do see your point specially if there's black edges.
Shaun

sorry, dint see the average bit, my bad.

A high quality result, and a satisfied customer, is like money in the bank. Some jobs just do take ages. Unless you're getting late for the next job, why worry?
I carry a tray with my 4 or 5 most commonly used spotters, various types of coaster, scissors, bolster, host joiner (the best spot agitator ever made) and a couple of brushes. I always put the item back in the tray (when I remenber, anyway). Try & think about the next thing you'll need if you have to make a trip to the van.
If you're running a porty save yourself all the bucketing by getting a hose on the hot tap.
After 17 years, and now running a TM, I still reckon 3 to 3.5 hrs for 3 pce suite. Some may be a lot less, and a few a bit more, but when planning my diary - 3.5.
Draft marks - well agitated splitter used after first go at extraction, especially around skirtings, brushed in with grooming brush.
These days I do have a target hourly rate in mind, but some jobs work out half target, and some nicely over.
Looks like you did a nice job.
-
Max, whats a host joiner? Google images didn't bring up any results :-X
-
Prob means a Hose joiner ?
-
Thats what i thought too Mark but how would you agitate with that?
I use a blunt fish knife and/or small spotting brush.
-
My old pallet knife, and various washing up brushes for me
-
Paul
I use citrus concentrate to get rid or reduce draught marks mate,i get it from john kelly from restormate.
