Ive been using my merlin now since 2005 no problems changed pre filter and membranes today and also 25ltr of resin yet the output flow is so slow it never used to be . I used to fill my 400ltr tank from empty in 2.5 hours now takes 4 at least any ideas or water company turned pressure down ?

check your mains water pressure
-
Checked mains pressure it comes out like a hydrant from the outside tap as soon as it goes into merlin pressure slows right down ??
-
I'm having similar problems, it can be tempramental.
Tried everything I can think of. Pressure is fine all new filters and membranes. I think next step for me is to replace the unit.

How can it be the unit its a bit of plastic with holes running through it .... maybe ge can help im not giving up seriously i can get my water to go 20 feet as soon as its in merlin dribbles ...strange

Steve iv had the same problem :(
I had no problems for 3 years, same as you my tank filled in about 3 hrs.
Bought new membranes last year and ever since that it takes at least 12 hours to fill the tank ::)
No change in water pressure, tds going in the same,no manifold change.
I now know of 5 people that this has happened to and all have one thing in common.
They have recently bought new membranes.
I think there has been a poor batch of membranes on the market and the suppliers have dumped them on us >:(
My solution as my water bill has gone from £26 a month to £90 a month????
Iv gone DI only.

have you checked the pipes? Or maybe the membranes or pre filter are not as good quality as the previous or original ones that came with the unit.
-
Never really thought about duff membranes, where did you get yours? I got mine from GAPS water.
-
Steve, how was it running before ? slow or just a higher tds hence changing membranes and pre filter ?
is it just the pure that is slow or the waste as well ?
my advice would be to check the membranes are seated correctly if you hav'nt already.
If you still have the old membranes put them back in for a comparison and see if the problems persist.

Well i dont think it was membranes as it just got slow all of a sudden thats why i changed them all as i thought it was the problem alas not...........
Simon the waste comes out quick but it always has ..... but like i said the old membranes were about 3 years old so i thought it got slower because of that but changed today and still slow but like i said it comes out the mains like a fire hose seriously i could knock someone over with the pressure
What ill end up doing is putting my old 60psi shurflow on the feed line into the merlin see if that helps

There could be a buildup of limescale within the unit, that was my original line of thought.

think you maybe right , its a process of elimination, its basically a pre filter and 2 membranes not much else to it that it could be.
Is there some solution you could dip the bare unit in? , I'm thinking sink unblocker/limescale remover etc. overnight and flush with a pressure hose ?
