Spoken to Ashley at pure freedom today and he said NOT to use Red Diesel because it could shorten the lifespan of the burner.

Also it invalidates the warantee should anything go wrong.

Crystal, did you speak to anybody before deciding to use Red or just thought it was ok?

They also told me it is best not to use red diesel (not sure why red diesel should be inferior though).

i use the PF flat out everyday and i can honestly say it doesn't cost me 100 quid extra a month on my fuel bill.

I had to use my other van earlier this week which is a cold system and after 20 minutes using it i wondered how i had managed without out hot so far.

The temp was about 0 degrees. The water was freezing on a conservatory roof. algae wasn't coming off as quickly. The hoses were so stiff it was hard to work with plus my hands were so cold on ally poles i had to keep stopping.

I think its a case of you don't know what you had until its gone.

That will be the last time i use my cold system unless i really have to ;D

I'm also gonna upgrade the cold system to a hot PF by the end of this year.

what a load of rubbish, red diesel is just the same as normal diesel, just with dye in it. kit that costs a dam sight more than a couple grand run perfectly on it with no side effects or warranty issuse.

webasto uk http://www.webasto.co.uk/home/en/homepage.html

my friend has a Thermal top 90 on his boat had problems with it was also told red  damages the burner
cost him over £200 in a call out and parts doesent use red any more

best ring webasto to see if it voids the warranty

I  recently had a PF 9KW heater fully fitted and paid 3400 including vat.
Really impressed with it so far, hot is so much better and nicer to work with, running costs not too sure of as I have only had heater for a week , so far it doesnt seem too bad to run , I would guess around about 10-15 quid a week using it all day every day 5 days a week.
