For those of you that do email marketing, how do you approach it ?
A small quick message?, a special offer?, similar letter format to normal mail?, just plain text or web style?
Also how do you make your email to display as a webpage with all the graphics etc ?
Any help much appreciated :)

In terms of content, the same rules apply as with any other form of marketing. People are likely to switch off after about two lines so you have to get some some kind of hook in quickly. Don't write an essay about your cleaning business - no one's interested. Keep it to a couple of paragraphs at most.
I would go for plain text personally as email programs often block html and/or images. Plain text wont look so jazzy but it'll get through to more people.

Short, sharp, to the point, plain text.
And remember the rules of spam.
Also make sure anyone you send to (if you do it as a mass e-mail) can't see the other names as that can cause grief, so I go with one address as main with the others under the bcc banner.

Agree with Neil. You can only email market B2B. Emailing private individuals without permission is against the law.
Send it to yourself and BCC everyone else. If you plan to send loads it might be worth checking with your ISP first too.

Thanks for the replies guys, plain text makes sense, probably looks more personal.
I have my customers fill in a form at the end of the job and they can enter their email if they want special offers or promotions so all above board ;)
I have around 400 now so thought the quiet time ideal to start getting something out there,
