hi
looking for new pole for high level residential and i like the look of the gardiner smax40-c,.
it's the same cost as ionics e2 but half the weight.
any one recommend it?

If its half the weight, but same price, I would'nt hesitate on buying it! (But no, I aint got one) ;)

They are the same build as the slx just longer and that I can recommend 100%. The low weight is acheived by smaller diameter sections which means less material and lower weight however the slx is still the most rigid tele pole I've used.

I have an SMAX-40, and it works well for what I need it for.
Light enough to use for extended periods of long runs (1 hour-ish), as its telescopic it is quick to swap between different heights etc.
It has a fair amount of flex at full extension, and if I had huge long runs of work that required this length of pole, I would invest in a SuperLite modular pole, as having played with one, I can't wait to own one.
SO, in summary, I guess it depends on what you need it for, but, for my uses, it's worked very well.
Hope this helps.

Just bought one this week, not quite sure why someone would only use it for an hour or so as I used this all day - its great and fully extended easily manageable. I used to use the Brodex alloy 36ft but is so difficult and tiring to use I used to leave it fully extended up against the wall and then swap to a shorter one for the lower windows... pain really. Now I just use it all day, wholeheartedly recommend.
