that everyone went out and bought,l5,l6 l8 fogwash etc etc, reason im asking thinking of getting one so feed back would be of benefit
cheers bob

I bought an L5 and didnt have to stop work once in the ice :) and childs play to fit
-
I just got an Amonstar 6L heater,.. initial impressions are very good, but I only fitted it today,..
-
Whats your history with heaters nat? how many have you had and why have you binned them?
-
this is my 3rd heater,..
I started with an Arazbao JSD20,.. brilliant heater, but no CE mark & even on minimum heat too hot for comfort on frosty mornings.
Next was the L5,.. again no CE mark, but perfect heat output. The issue with the L5 is the minimum flow rate is very high. I modified it, but still kept my eyes open for one that would work unmodified.
I was interested in the Fogwash, but found this one which is just a bit prettier! It also has a digital temp readout, is CE marked & runs on a much lower flow rate without modification. The only issue is it has a 20 minute timer, and i'd have to buy 50 at a time before they'd modify that feature for me (maybe for next winter!),.. but it does seem to stop quicker than the L5 when i stop flow at the brush, so the timer might not be a massive issue for some.

looks good nat how much and where did you get it from .
-
looks nice that
how much?

$170 from amonstar in china. They sell 8L and 12L ones on ebay,.. contact the seller & they can get you a 6L one. Thell them I sent you!
If the heater runs well over the summer I am considering buying in 50 ready for next winter. Having them local & without the 20 minute time would be a big advantage.
-
Looks good to me.
I like to keep a spare of most things, and this would include a heater as they are not that dear. When you want one it takes weeks to get.
£8000 investment.
Perhaps you'd have to get some of us to pay up front first.
Most will install next november, so you really need to gear up over the summer and have them in by october.
-
And spares don't forget.

If you have a problem junk it and get another, just like an applaince in your home.Do you fix toasters, darn socks?
-
funny you should say that i was darning my socks,i see the point and for that price it wouldnt be worth fixing
last question: if you stop for say a minute before the 20 minute cut out do you then get an extra 20 minutes?
-
yes and nat is saying it cuts off faster in the overun.
-
actually this may be the last question: do you guys still use the hotwash during the summer months on regular cleans or is it for the colder days if you do why(im sorry if its a daft question)
cheers bob

What is 'over run'?
-
And spares don't forget.
I'd plan on initially keeping 5 or the 50 for spares,.. there's no point having a heater if you have to wait a month for parts to arrive from China.
The other issue is import duty, vat and forward shipping,.. It'll add a considerable amount to the cost & prob make them the same price as the fogwash. Is it worth bringing another heater to the market when Peter already has a good one available?
-
do you need a certivacate for these heaters as they are running on gas and if so wouold the M O T centres refuse to pass the van without one as they are sighing of a road worthy van

You need to inform your insurance,.. but they are legal to use if properly installed.

have you tried the new wash yet nat? if so whats it like
bob

I've been using the pure freedom isothermal hot water system this week - a fantastic piece of kit - highly recommended! ;)

Very good so far,.. early days yet, so I don't want to rave about it too much, but its working like a dream so far.
I used to be a bit embarrassed about the state of my van with the L5, but this unit is so much better looking now I'm almost hoping the custies will take a peek in the back! :)
I'm trying to source a laser-cut stainless steel "thermoshine" logo to stick of the stupid Chinese company name though. ;)
