Where do you find people to do canvassing for you and what would you pay them ? I dont want people from the job centre or is that a good idea, are women better than men. Got to be cheaper than buying a round or is it.
-
if they are any good at canvassing then yes they'll be cheaper - but you won't know until you've tried them.
you could try incentives such as giving them the money for each first clean, therefore they are more likely to price high and the more customers they get the more they make
-
Are you saying pay them once a clean has been done rather than getting a booking
-
yes
for example, if they were to canvass and get you 5 new customers at £20 each then they will get the £100 once the customers have been cleaned and are on the books.
Don't forget that because the price they quote is the pay they will get they will do their best to get you the best price.
-
Sounds like a good plan. They could also offer gutter cleaning etc
-
save your money m8 & just put in your time, & do it yourself. that way you will always get what you want ;)
-
Didnt think of that..... I dont have time so was thinking of hiring some canvassers but as above which is a good idea they only get paid after first clean. Effectively I clean them first time for no income but hopefully they become a regular custard

Not sure why the negative response....Pride dont see how that comes into it. Would that be the same as someone buying around not having pride because they didnt knock on the doors themselves.
I am full on busy 7 days a week with WC and also my business so as I dont have the time to actively canvass I was looking for extra work by employing someone to canvass. And why not ? I was not going down to the detention centre and taking on some immigrants but I was going employ as above some decent people to get some work in. The first clean will be paid for the canvasser gets paid and if they screw up then they get no more work and I have lost out on 20minutes of my life which what I am doing right now replying to this post ::)
-
save your doe mate go and do the canvassing yourself at least you can get a bdecent price out of them i wouldnt entertaain outside canvassing
-
hiya mate iv used the same canvasser for a while to build up my round and it does build it up but believe me half the work will be rubbish and you will hate it having to go round cleaning peoples window who just dont want them doing regularly.
iv just dumped prob 70+ customers that my canvasser got me for these reasons, iv found from a lot they agreed to one off cleans etc i used to pay at end of the day say he got £100 worth of work id pay £100 too him but then dropped down to 0.75%.
i was gna giv him another go this month but he wanted 0.85% i said i wanted to ring rnd new customers welcome them on board etc n he sh*t himself n backed off. if you use a canvasser try and build up a good rapport get it wrote down what you want from him, things like prices, frequencys, get customers to sign to say they agree to a REGULAR clean (this he wouldnt do!!), other services they would be interested in etc
good luck im going to begin canvassing myself and only take people on who agree to regular 6 weekly service who really do need a cleaner.

thats where contracts come into play ;)
its finding a "decent" canvasser at the end of the day theres nothing saying anyone (not just canvassers) wont stitch you up its life unfortunatley but when running a reputable business stitching people up is the last thing that you want happening and i can assure you if any WC chooses my business to canvass for them and they feel like they are being stitched up then there will be an investigation.
but there is also a protocall for the said one off cleans ;)

I suppose each to their own way of doing things.
But he has said there is contracts in place, so this is professional, and quite rightly he wouldnt want to get himself a bad reputation, it wouldnt be of any benefit to anybody.
Lots of people outsource all different types of things. Its just another project that you might necessarily want to outsource for one reason or another, time benefactor, confidence thing etc.
-
im not saying do not use a canvasser the descision is totally your call im just warning you of the pitfalls i experienced, i actually had a good relationship with my canvasser but i just didnt trust him 100% and i think he has got the best deal out the year or so i used him for most of my work is work iv got myself now unfortunately
-
Thing is Richy it seems like quite a tight industry, people knowing people, so you just wouldnt want to take the risk of trying to pull a fast one
People always say, yes, get work by word of mouth, but that has an opposite effect too if you do a bad job
-
like i said contracts are in place to avoid these issues...
if you still want a bit more info drop us an email.
Thanks Richard.

I was looking to employ a friend for Canvassing so someone I know, who can earn a few quid and look for customers. With the end promise that as work grows I may be able to also give them so work helping me out.
-

Wow you found me out :'(
Dont know who Ryan Lee is and not interested either.
Are you still selling your van and do you have any more details on it, being serious and all that ?

I use a canvasser and ive got too say its the best thing I ever did, I get many new customers commenting on how polite he was etc, his pricing is tops too, your always going too get a few bad custys or houses you wouldnt of canvassed yourself but thats part of the gamble you take, If I lose a customer here and there I dont take the money back as the money I make over the year from the good customers I gain is worth it,
I pay him 1.25x the clean which I give him on the day he canvassed.

Thats really positive news RWC. Good to know there are some genuine companies, that take a professional approach, suppose there are good and bad in whatever industry.
-
Its not a company, Me and another forum member use him, he pays his taxes etc and I got him some business cards with his name on so then if he gets any unsure people they got a method of contacting him rather then a number on a bit of paper, we got a good relationship and wont take the p out of each other....
-
Sounds good, all about having a good working relationship.
Was it somebody that you both knew?
-
No I sold a pole to a member on this forum who lives about 45 mins away, we kept in contact, he had been using him for a while but was getting too the point where he didnt need him as often a week as he had, so because we arent in competiton with each other, and didnt want the bloke too be losing out on money he rung me and asked if I was interested, so I met up with him at his house had a good chat and he started that week.....
-
Nice one RWC.
I think the concern is more with organisations etc ripping people off. But as I was saying earlier, you would be daft to try and offer your services, in such a tight business community, and then proceed to rip people off. Ive spoken to Richard and he seems a very determined young lad, no intentions of ripping anyone off, very driven, very enthusiastic. Good for him. Reminds me when I had enthusiasm for things, lol.
