they have been on my books for over 4 years and both were really nice people,  sadley last summer her breast cancer returned and although she fought it with everything last bit of strength sadly she let go on Xmas eve.

God bless you Jill,   your out of your pain now :( :(

Unfortunately it happens all the time and you just have to get on with it.

We always send out a card to the family, at least it shows you care about your customers.

one of our customers died over the Christmas holiday. Fortunately, the neighbour warned us so we were able to offer our condolences to his wife.

I think it's sad when they go into nursing homes as well.

Haven't lost any direct custies (death) for about a year now. About a third of our custies go on Afghan tour in October, so who knows. Hope to God we don't lose any then.

Sorry to hear that Stephen

I reckon I lost about ten customers last year. It happens all the time, mainly because of the average age.

I do a load of old people's flats every two months on a Friday. At flat no1 the lady told me that Brendon in flat no 2 had died. I said how sorry I was to hear that because he was a nice old boy but he was 90 and had been getting very frail. Then she told me in all the gory details what had happened and all about the funeral which had been the day before, right down to what was in the sandwiches afterwards. I was there for ages

Thirty four flats and each one told me that Brendon had died and each one I had to go through the same routine.

Missed out a house last week as the woman had died, new customer and initially said no at the door(well her son did) but saw me cleaning a few days later and asked me to do hers, very pleasant lady and looked fine(she was just driving off somewhere). This is all in a time span of 7 weeks. Bottom line is she was going to the hospice at the end of the week when i had cleaned them and knew she wasn`t coming out as had just been given literally days/weeks to live. She never mentioned any illness and i have to assume she was just tidying her affairs and clean windows was part of it,pleased to say i had taken extra time(mixture of trad and wfp) and knew i had done a very good job.
Anyway having had time to mull this situation over i have decided that yet again i slipped up by not charging double for the first clean.
