.......and i'm doing very well thankyou. ;)
-
And im sure it wasnt all plain sailing for you, great to here positive posting, , ;D
-
i started at the end of september and i am not doing that well but wifey earns and i still work as a decorator so i'm not bothered, it will get better according to the level of effort i put in to it so i am quite optimistic that things will improve as the year goes on.

I too only started full time 5 months ago and have done better than I expected.Jan has been slow but I'm still picking up jobs and I saved money from jobs before Xmas to tide me over as I expected 2 quiet months to start the year after reading posts on this forum from the same period last year.
I'm lucky in that my wife works and my kids are grown up and so we can get by in lean times,so Im at an advantage to some other newbies.
There does seem a lot of doom and gloom on lots of posts over last few days.

We still have a few weeks left too in jan as it spands out into a 5 week month guys so we still have time to make it a good month.
Good to hear soem newbies are doing ok.

I started up in August 2010 and I'm still here. Not been easy and had a couple of bad months, December in particular but I think that was down to the weather. Not giving up and looking to grow my business over the comming months.

It is possible for people to do well from the begging but we are not all made with the same DNA or have the kill attitude
Some people start a sales and marketing job and they win all the cruises while others continue to drive a car with no MOT etc.
This Job is Sales and Marketing not Carpet Cleaning

Your right ian and you have to look at one c cleaner on here who has grown over the 3 years he has been in business to realise it can be done mind..

You need to have a Rah Rah meeting with yourself in the morning to get you motivated and directioned, my goes like this 'up one sock, up t'other sock'

Hi,
this is my third year of trading and the business is steadily growing. My advertising bill has not increased dramatically and i have stuck with what works for me.
The right investment in equipment in the early stages may have made it easier and although i'm set up nicely now i'm always looking at bigger and better equipment.
My aim is to make a success of this as best i can and am fully aware of competition and other possible negative effects on the business.
Good luck to all the newbies for 2011, work hard and hopefully reap the rewards.
Ben.

Hi Guys
CC has always been a tough business to get established in but once you are, you will earn good money without all the corporate bull necessary in other similarly paid jobs.
To take to the next level you need to employ or find other ways to earn when you are not working.
For a newbie to survive he must really want it.
Cheers

Carpet cleaning sorts the men from the boys, it is extremely competitive and it is survival of the fitest. I think if you do well in carpet cleaning you would do well in lots of other businesses too.
The biggest 'problem' amongst established carpet cleaners is resting on your laurels. Not only could you get a nasty shock from the new kid on the block, but it leads to boredom and complacency.
