Title: Ionics tank

I have a problem in that we have 2 Ionics 650ltr systems but we are sometimes using up a full tank of water before the day is finished and I have no method of refilling it quickly from the  static system we have for the other van as there's no "hole" to fill the tank.

Can I get a tool that cuts a hole in the top of the ionics tanks to fit a standard tank lid and threaded insert?

If so, where do I get one and how is it fitted?

If I knew who manufactured the tanks I could ask them, but I don't.

hiya ian

i used walkdens in bolton who fit the ionic systems and speedliner for people in the north for ionics.  francis is the bloke you need to speak too. he fitted a small screw top hole with a filter on that you can use to transfer water from static its slightly smaller hole than transfer pump hose width but we just bodged smaller hose into the transfer hose and jubilee clipped it. i cant remember how much it was as it was fitted with a number of things, and im also not sure if its an ionics products but give him a call sure he'll be happy to help

Do Ionics tanks not have a lid  ?

Cheers for all that, I'll certainly give walkdens a call and also look at Pirtek.

No, the Ionics tank is a bespoke tank, fully sealed with only an entrance and exit connector, this has never been an issue until recently as we are now doing more commercial work and therefore in turn more pole work.

Just been on the Walkdens site and remembered that KTD up here in Newcastle fit Ionics systems as well.  I'll give them a call in the morning.

Why not do what the people who have fitted immersion heaters have done. Drill a hole in the top of the tank, fit a mechanical flange in said hole, then instead of fitting an immersion heater, just screw in a blanking plug. Jobs a goodun.  ;)

I have a 700 litre Ionics delivery unit with a filler cap, ring Ionics in the morning and ask for a filler cap for delivery unit, there about £30.

Ask Ionics, they will sort your tank out, they did for me.

Thanks to everyone for your input and advice, I think I'm now sorted, Lynn from Restormate (01670 590099  ;)) has managed to sort me with an 8" threaded insert (sounds painful) and lid for our tank.

My "hole" and lid arrived today, looks like a straightforward fit, cut out a hole and screw the threaded insert in.  £20 from Restormate
