Title: An old question again
Post by: Shaun_Ashmore on January 08, 2011, 09:00:11 pm
How many suites do you clean in a years approx?

I've been looking at my stats and the art of suite cleaning is going down, 2009 I cleaned 198, 2010 I cleaned 123.

Carpet cleaning is up to combat the difference and my knees feel better for it but just wondered if you guys were the same?

I only advertise to clean carpets, but those customers who want their suites or upholstery cleaned then I don't refuse, although I hate doing them.

Last year I did 38.

2009 did 43.

A necessary evil to me. Some can be quite profitable but I'd rather be doing carpets and saving my knees....the fewer the better ;D

I get my mate Wayne to do mine while I’m doing the carpets; I know should be charging him for the loan of the bee’s knees hand tool :o

I find it harder to justify a higher price on upholstery, and it can be a pain, with extra gear , drying etc, but did I tell you I can clean a 3+1+1 in 45mins.

Have to agree with you shaun. Upholstery cleaning is on the decline. Mind you they don't make em like they used to. These DFS sofas can be a pain to clean and the fabrics are not of the same quality as used years ago.

I bought one of these www.cleanerswarehouse.co.uk/store/Cristal_Fusion.html#aD_2fCRI001

I've had a von schrader before but it was a bit cumbersome but this little machine is picked up with one hand, just cleaned my conservatory furniture cushions with it and I was suitably impressed not as quick drying as advertised IDEAL ROB has this machine and has it down to a fine art so hoping he may offer some advice.

Won't bring anymore work in but could become easier to clean suites.

Same here shaun

Compared to a few years ago they are def on the decline and maybe with all the cheap suites on the market doesnt help either.

At that price it's worth a punt.

Yep same here shaun i can do just 1 or 2 some weeks then up to 10 other weeks but those are becoming the rare occasion nowadays where 10 used to be the norm :(

Have to agree with clinton you couldnt beat the old traditional draylon suite you could throw anything at them trafficlean, ultrapac and they would come up fantastic :) Eh those where the days ;D

I find that selling them has become harder where as carpet cleaning I find no difference at all, perhaps they should have non cleanable upholstery and laminate stairs just horizontal carpets to clean and life would be so nice!

Just been out for a couple of hours swimming and on my return the conservatory furniture looks like brand new I think this could be a nice way of cleaning for me.

The old 214 , what a machine that was ,, only 4 grand from CD head office , and I bought 3!
You did get good heat though , I have the new version of it now , only 1500 plus vat , but I think they have put them up to 2000 now.

Those cream striped flatwaeve 10 cushion suites from a council estate in Middlesbrough used to make my day.

Still a tip , I took a telly out of a non paying customers house there once , apparently my house is going to get burned down for that one , still waiting, 15 years later.
