Title: An open question.........
Post by: Clintess Carpet on January 08, 2011, 12:44:16 pm
Which is the very best carpet cleaning detergent powder available?

(or if you can't answer that, which powder do you use?)

[Those who don't use powder need not reply]

Thanks,   Nick.

There is no best powder, it's user subjective. I currently use a lot of Pureclean from Prochem and get on very well with it. You can vary dilutions which is really handy. I used Alltec's Ultimate for years with no problems. Double clean and Powerburst (Prochem) are great on pubs etc. A lot may say powders are bad for your pump, if you use it in your tank,  but i've always diluted well in hot water and had pumps last over 3 years. Crystal Green is good but I kept getting blocked jets.

So your answer is simply    PURECLEAN

Thanks  :)

Formula 90 in my opinion

Formula 90 for cleaning ability but Hydradri slightly tops it because it mixes better. Even in cold water it dissolves with just a quick stir, formula 90 mixes with a thick yellow goo floating on the top :-\

Depends what your philosophy of use.

But for me Formula 90 beats everything hands down IMO. Great pre-spray aswell!

Powerburst is great.

Pure clean I have but have never actually used so have been interested in recent topics on this.

Ultimate Master takes a lot of effort to dilute totally.

Thanks for all your replys.

I do use Formula 90 which IMO works brilliantly with little effort (probably high ph 10- 11)

Crystal Green is terriable stuff. Didn't get on with that at all. Just didn't get the traffic lanes anywhere clean as what Im getting them now.

Thanks for your replys everyone  :)

Alot of people have said powerburst  ???

I think the OP was asking about detergent rinses.

Is PB not a detergent?

I think the OP was talking about a rinse detergent i.e. one that you put in the clean tank of your machineto rinse the carpet with after you've pre-sprayed.

I could be wrong, just the way I read the inital post.

Nick

for emulsification to take place you need to use the right surfactant for the conditions.

In simple terms you have a hydrophobic head and tail the head is water loving and the tail is not. this is how dirt is lifted and then flows in water (emulsification). each has different charges some positive, negative, and some in the middle. so just like a magnet they repel or attract.

what the point? why we have so much choice is that it all depends on what's in the product. you need a selection of all so you can cope with all types of conditions. no one will cover all

I often wonder how different all these things really are. Maybe they are all the same thing in different bottles, stregnths, colours and smells. Then you got all your marketing BS and a price to match it.

Wynne

if you look at any product range and then look at carpet cleaners marketing the 2 dont match up.

You will find no mention of the problem that these products are made to fix, and after all we are in business to fix people problems.

I am sure you seen the buzz that is around a new product when it arrives on the market but normally it then does not reflect in cleaners market. you will never sell a service if you don't market it.

Everyone moans about being in the same basket but few define what they do apart from remove dirt from carpets. we all know its more than this but many fail to pass the message on to prospects.

What's frightening is people don't know the difference between a detergent rinse and a prespray
