Never touched commercial always stayed with domestic and want to keep it that way.
Thinking of starting earlier in the morning to get a longer day.
What time do you other chaps start on houses ????
-
8:30 start, on the glass around 9:00 for domestics.
-
8.30 on some, most at 9 ::)
-
8:30

Yes I try to be on the glass by nine but was thinking of pushing my luck at 8am. My thinking is that at 8am start I would be able to get 2 more houses per day.
Not sure how the custy would be with it though.
Watching them eat there breakfast through the window ;D
-
Id say 9. Would you want, if your WFP, hoses trailing round house while your rushing out to get to work and getting kids to school?
-
Yes your right, It was just a thought.
Thanks guys

I do not think 8 is too early to start, Before 8 yes, but 8 or soon after would be fine. If your worried, try and pick houses that have no kids to get to school, or where everyone will be gone to work by then. But I would not be bothered if a window cleaner turned up once a month, or even once every 2 months at 8 am, Big deal. You could even make sure you started on a different customer at 8 on each cycle, then they would only be affected by it a couple of times a year at most (probably a lot less).

8 when enough light... 9- in winter mornings like now... most people start work at 8 or 9 so they our either away to work or just getting ready to go..
-
start at 8 on houses all the time . never had 1 comment . try it . thats when i get the thick end of my work done , before dinner . if i start at 9 it feels like half the days gone . ;)
-
In time you will also find out who leaves early for work as well, so you could do those first thing and then start on the others later.

8am for me most days,i have start at 7.30 on custys that i know are gone out to work and said its fine.
-
Have always started houses at 8am never had a problem, most peaople are up at that time anyway.
-
i always used to work from 8-4.30 with 2 half an hours break, but since having wfp i now have a cooked breakfast, work from 9-4 without a break and earn more.you would definitly not have any problems starting at 8
-
i start at 8.30 but would start at 8 but im to lazy and its still a bit dark at the moment start any earlier,
but like someone said you find out which houses you can start early on
-
8am is ok for most domestic houses as they do know that most day jobs start at 8 unless your on shifts and start at 6am. Domestic customers are human well I think they are :D, and if you think its to dark get one of the lanterns strap to your head so no worries that you cannot see :D, oh dont for get your balaclava so you dont frighten them :D :D
-
In summer i clean from 8am no problem.
I know 2 window cleaners who are working from 7.30 but heard they have done that for over 15years.
I notice i dont do as much collecting on the road i start at 8am because you catch everyone going to work so you can chase them for money. I find i can get more out of the day even if i finish early theres time to have a bbq before the sun goes in

9am on domestics although in the spring/summer months it has been known for me to start at 830! ;) ;D
commercial 8-830am
do you work saturdays steven?i find i work a fair few of them to catch up when i get behind especially in winter.
how long do you take for dinner?
are you working as efficiently as possible?(eg WFP/bottle on a belt to save carrying bucket/tickets and invoices all written and printed before days work etc etc.)
i bet theres ways of squeezing extra work in without starting earlier.
do you spend too long scrubbing and rinsing or chatting to customers?
is most of your work underpriced?
1.work more efficiently
2.raise your prices slightly
3.work saturdays occasionally to catch up
4.work in most weather conditions instead of crying off at the first spot of rain/snow etc.
you ll be amazed just how much more money you ll make over the course of the year if you do the above.

8 am for me ;D
-
arrange an 8 am clean with a custie who you think wont mind, working an extra hour on workable days will pay dividends in the long run particularly as we lose working time to weather in this job.

nah!!sod that!!8am is too early for me!just about make 9am on these cold, dark winter mornings sometimes dont make it until 10am to my first job of the day!! ;D ;D ;D
mind you i always have a few quid spare and dont feel the need to start earlier.saturdays i play catch up and tend to work longer in the day if the light allows if im behind!
