Shouldn't be telling anyone mate as they all will be trying it as the recession tightens it's grip and jobs become harder to find

are you sure they were boasting? £8 is just over minimum wage about 15k a year. you wouldnt be even able to buy a flat on that amount!

I was looking at a property in Cornwall last week, and the prices like here are on the high side.

And by the time you'd spent working out expenses (which your party friends wouldn't have had to waste time doing) what was your nett income per hour from April 2010 - Sept 2010?

I remember earning £7.50/h - wasn't much money but the good side was I was finishing and didn't have to worry about anything or even think about work, the downside not being able to afford lots of things  ;D

the prices are on the high side,  but a lot of have lived here for a few years and only paid 30 k for there homes,  a lot down here have big familys and get lots in CTC which works out to be about £50 per kid,  my mate in the village has got 5 kids and gets about 600 a week as he is on the sick, (this includes his rent)

What sort of place is it?  :o

regarding houses, a lot of the cornish wither still live at home will they get married, or build huses on land there daddy owns  or inherite houses,  but you get a lot that work summer months  get there rent paid by council and spend the winters in the pub,  its a weird place to live till you understand how it works down here,  but i live in villages   the likes of truro might be like you towns

Yes but .............................................. take your net profit for the year, take off your holidays divide by your working weeks and then to your hourly rate - bet it's not far off their hourly rate might even be lower!

Give over, when a ship founders you're down on the beach like ferrets smashing open the containers, driving away brand new four by fours and  motorbikes, and cases of cigarettes and whiskey.

Wrecking must be a great biz, you set lights on the cliffs to send the ships off course, and have cornish exemptions from prosecutuion. What you find you keep.Simples.Your mates at the party aren't telling you everything.

Next time you visit these well todos, wink along with a grimace, and give a backward handshake.Mention the £8 an hour thing , that seems like some sort of code to me.You'll end up with the best wfp kit in the country.

PS. keep your eye out for L5's, we can flogg em' and go half each.

I thought the house prices were pretty good when I was there in August. For the same sort of money my standard 3 bed terraced costs in Portsmouth, I saw some decent places when I looked in an estate agent's window. I would love to move away from here to somewhere like that, but the only thing that concerns me is the level of employment being lower out of season might mean a higher turnover of customers. (I won't, cos Mrs W likes it here...  ::) ) Is it like that at all?

PJ and Hydrophil, have a point.

You need to see your tax return to see how much you have really earned per hour, until you see all your expenses against your Gross, you can only guess.

Dont dismiss all those hours canvassing, reasearching on here, invoicing, standing outside river island waiting for them to open lol, when you work out your "TRUE" hourly rate

It could be a real eye opener, I had a real shock this quarter, according to my accountant, I just about broke even.
