Anyone else having one?
I am putting 99% up, its long overdue for most...
Also on radio fuel is going up with the higher vat rate and also a higher tax on fuel duty so thats another 4p a litre on top of what is already astronomical fuel prices
Ive only been driving 5-6 years since i passed my test and remember thinking fuel will never be £1 a litre, and now we re heading for £2!
But anyway, it all means one thing - higher prices, more profit needed to sustain a growing, operating business

i tell all the under priced custys b4 christmas just after they put the cash in my hand that the price will be going up a quid in the new year. in 5 years i have lost 5 or 6 custys doin this. the way i look at it, if i put up half my round ( 250 houses) by a quid, if i lose two custys its still not a loss to myself. i will still be earning the same but doin less work. happy days

we have a general price review/rise every April

I know what you are saying stan
Because of this i havent put mine up for 4-5 years but just gonna go for it as its new start etc, im sure they will understand if not bye bye, im gonna be canvassing alot this year and am happy to replace any lost!
Most if mine arent gonna miss £2 extra a month , if they do im not bothered as they will have probs paying either way in that case!
Rich - hope your right!

i was anctious initialy about putting them up. but if you dont do it your end up beatin your self up every time you go there because you know you should be charging more. just have confidence in yourself and the quality of the service you provide and your be ok. chins up for the new year
-
the best way i find is canvass a new area even if you dont need new work and then put all prices up by a quid in the hope that if they dont pay you lose them, but youve just picked up more than you loose and your a winner
-
good idea mate
i do intend in replacing all lost and more this year anyway so i am gonna print out the letters today for this weeks custards and get them ready for handing out :)
it will also contain the fact that im not coming round with my hat in my hand 3-4 times a week till they decide they have some spare coppers free for me!
time to post cheques the miserable so and so's :)

Just had a text from a custy wishing me a happy new year.
I text back a thank you.
I also took the advantage of telling her it would be going up by £1.00 next time.
13 windows, modern two story town house has been paying £11.00 for at least 3 years
I also say that I will hold the new price for at least two years.
They are both GP's with newish merc's, but nice people.
She replies with "up by a pound.......um"
What the fook does that mean.

LOL!

putting mine up in march they will all be told in feb

Go for it mate even if you lose 40 houses (which you prob wont) you will break even
however maybe it might be best to door knock 1st after about 40 new customers then increase the prices and do so nicely because you have the backup of the new customers if you lose one to many

thats a good idea. will defo do that in spring .

Put my prices up about august not had an increase for 7 yrs, still had people cancel over 40 pence others that were increased by £1 also had several cancel others changed from 2 weekly to 4 weekly effectively cancelling out your increase.
Some people dont deserve us.

I have found that if I put my prices up say5% ill lose around 5% of my customers.
Never put my prices up in january, and never will. I think I'd lose considerably more if I did.
March/April for me.
-
Agreed formb.
Think about it - most of the aggro about "wotagrimm year" 2011 is going to be is coming from the moaning media who all sit there on their fat salaries and pensions.
But because it is being rammed into our custies minds many of our our custies will genuinely be thinking - "fuel up" "Vat up" - "ooo-errr" "better watch the pennies".
Add to that credit card bills plopping on the mat after Xmas in January.
Add to that heating on constantly and attendant costs of that.
Add to that the natural feeling many have that they don't need their windows doing until Easter but tolerate it and it's a recipe for losing out I reckon.
I reckon March/April is deffo the time for a general increase. This is not to say that you shouldn't select some PITA custies for a price hike mind.

for me when it starts to warm up and we know summer on it way and we get that good feel factor in us,and we know winter as long gone. ;) ;)
-
price review every jan/feb and earmark the ones that need raising.tell em in march that they ll be going up next time.(april).
i put some prices up every year.
i also think january is not a good time to be putting up prices IMO.
I very rarely lose customers to price rises.when i do its usually over a measly 50p or so and custies who i didnt really think would kick up a fuss!! ;D ;D ;D
i went years without putting up prices a few years ago.never again!! ::) ::)
PRICE REVIEW EVERY YEAR!!!
with all the extra vat/fuel hikes you ll be working for less this year if you dont.
