I was thinking of fitting a 12volt bilge pump with an automatic float switch inside my waste tank. Would this work... aslong as where the wires and hose exited the waste tank were sealed correctly? Something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COMPACT-RUN-DRY-12V-X-360GPH-BILGE-PUMP-AUTO-FLOAT-/350342077425?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_BoatEquipment_Accessories_SM&hash=item519203dbf1

Thanks for the link. So you reckon this will do the trick then. Definatly cheaper than the pump out kits from Prochem. There is a shelf inside the waste tank about 6 inches high, so I thought I could mount the auto float switch there and when the water rises it will tun on the pump that will be placed at the bottom of the tank.

this will have to overcome the negative pressure created by the suction of the truckmount, imagine when the waste tank is empty the suction from the T/m will try and pull air back through the pump and when it has to pump it has to overcome the Hgs created by the blower.
this is the reason autopumps are so big & expensive

Thats a good point mike i only use mine under the shower tray in the bathroom on the boat. works a treat there ;D

I have managed to create one but it is for a portable and has to be housed external of the machine, so you have your suction hose running into the box with the pump, and then a suction hose from there to the waste tank.
The negative pressure can be overcome by fitting a one way valve on the outlet line from the pump so that the system becomes closed again once the water is pumped out.
Can't say I've tried it in anger only under controlled experiments on the drive, but I made incase of any flood jobs to prevent running back and fore every 10 minutes to empty the waste tank.
Granted I think a TM might be a different problem with it's super suck.

for an auto pump out you need something this size either for a portable or a truckmount
