Hi
Would putting anti freeze through my portable and leaving it in the machine be an okay thing to do? I sometimes leave my portable for a week or so at a time without using it and wondered if anti-freeze could damage the water pump.
Any thoughts anyone...?
Thanks
Justin

Glad you brought this up, we don't get many posts about anti-freeze at this time of year ::) ::)

:D Thank you Jim, I will take that sarcasm on the chin! :)
Please can you give me the answer? Is it okay or not?
Thanks

Yes it will be ok

I have 2 portables in the garage which I use about twice a year. I always put anti freeze in them afterwards so they are like that about 360 days a year so I guess it's ok. Just remember to drain out before cleaning with them.

I wondered this myself and enquired at Ashbys. They reckoned the alcohol content would'nt do the pump seals any good.
It would have to be a weak solution but that would defeat the object. My van is kept in the street and most times I can't park near the house, so what I do now is...on the last job I empty the tank through the hoses incl wand, hand tools till all water is 100% out. So far in the coldest frost I have had no problems. ;)

With their pumps they only last 6 months anyway so I wouldn't bother. ;D
