Title: CLX Clamps update
Post by: geefree on December 29, 2010, 09:13:49 am
Hi,

there was a post on here not long ago, regarding the gardiners CLX POLES
and one or two people saying the clamps have worn out very quickly,

anyone any more info on these , has anyone else come across any problems, as i am thinking of getting this pole ,

thanks.

I haven't had any problems with the clamps wearing out, but they do need regular adjustment, but the 2 of the clamps came unstuck on one of my clx's, but apparently gardiners have sorted the problem out now, i think they use more glue when making them.

They are a very good pole. What length are  you going to get?

well i use a 27 fft extel for all my work barring a couple of very high windows,

so i am going for the £150 clx , think that is also 27ft,... and a kilo lighter.

Thats what i have got my brother has the 22", but the 27 comes in handy for those awkward widows where you need those extra few feet.

I might take the base section off my and use it as a 22" for the majority of work because my brothers 22" feels so much lighter than my 27".

Ok thanks,

i will stick to the 27 ft as it will be lighter than my XTEL , so will feel like a 22ft to me  :D

i bought 2  clx 22 pole  in october 3 clamps and base on one pole and 2 clamps on the other pole came undone rang gardners and they sent me some glue its now ok
the 22 and 27 are very whippy if i dont need the pole fully extended i tend to leave the top 2 section in
gardners used to have a comparison chart for poles i wonder how the clx would fare on it  :P

I have an slx which has the same clamps on and not had any problems. Gardiners are very good with customer service though in the unlikely event that you got a dodgy pole they would sort it out.

I would recommend the slx 25 if you can afford the extra £100, it will be about the same length as what you have at the moment as gardiners state actual length. The extra £100 will be well spent though as it will be far more rigid and lighter.

Simon.

I have an SLX and 2 of the clamps came unstuck, i glued them back on with some decent glue (Araldite twin syringe) and its been like new since.
