Be honest was it?
Too cold water freezing on brush, pole/joints/clamps, jets?
Water freezing on glass?
sometimes just could'nt be bothered ?
Unable to get around as councils just do not grit anymore?

all of the above really, no problems making the water just trying to use it was bad, last few days though was simply couldn't be bothered.

nothing, carried on as normal, kept the tap and microbore hose on my shoulder out of the snow, if i had any hills to go up i would take a run up and park downwards. only made £500, but pretty much got most of the custs in.

Ok here is why I ask...now I am starting to believe that winters over here in Europe/Holland and also the UK are getting worse and there is more snow and ice each year....now getting around can be the main problem.
L5 type heaters and such can help with temps to around -4 but again it's the getting around that has hampered me ...now seeing as I have not been able to do alot of work.
I am giving some serious thought whilst this is all still so fresh in my mind about investing in a Quad plus the following

And a snow-plough + gritter.....council + private contracts?
Given that I already own a 400litre tank on a skid which could be modified onto a trailer base....also use a supermax 47 which is a pole for all uses (buy different butt stops). With a little thought this could be a vech for all uses/seasons.
Now I am not suggesting that you should do this or it would fit your circumstance but this is just a thought as most of my issues have been access to area's/estates.
What do you think?

If works for you then go for it but what about other service providers I see in the north west somewhere they haven't collected the bins due to access issues,milkman and emergency vehicle like Ambulances who can't get access due to iced out roads,I don't think the council has thought it through saving money by not clearing roads could cost lives,but saying that my local council has done a good job,my daughter was moaning that she can't go sledging on the side road now a guy came along and sprayed the road.

what about offering a hot jet wash for a whole street? charge £5 per house, then salt afterwards. i tell you what the rich areas on hills might be up for it?
maybe not, too much hassle.

good idea dave, i might diversify into gritting and snow clearance, maybe for tescos, shopping centre car parks, could make a mint next year, you still could this year?
might get some chains for the wheels too, although ive been fine on my local estates? the only issue ive had is convincing custs to let me clean! ive been surprised how easy its been for me. although its only been -3 for me though, maybe ive had it easy compared to the northern guys?
will have a fogwash ready for next week though.

Nuttin stopped us, we got every ounce of work done in the run up to christmas :)

Creating an ice rink around each house stopped me. If I know it will go above freezing after I have cleaned, then I work.
I have tried table salt. It makes a right mess inside people's houses.

The icy pavements stopped me. Would have looked a proper Charlie trying to keep my balance with a bucket in one hand and my ladders over my shoulder on the ice we've still got round here!

the first 2 weeks the icy roads slowed me,.. but I just had to skip custies where I couldn't drive & carried on with the ones I could get to. I salted the footpaths at every house,.. used LOADS to be honest. I reckon salt costs cut my profit by 10% and then I was working slower too,.. but at least I earned something.
Last week the council finally gritted the estates by me, but the weather turned even colder, and even with a hot system there were days where I didn't work because water was freezing on the glass even in heated houses.
I prob missed 5 or 6 days work in the last 4 weeks because of the weather. If I'd been using cold I reckon I would have missed double that at least.

We got all but £70.00 done up to date.

Does Holland have good nipples?
I bought 136 customers that were all due before christmas and have done none of them,delivered a letter though,simply resigned myself to the fact that i can only do what i can do.

Done 1.5 days all month ,first to much snow then to cold .

Having sickness and number two's stop me from working :) nothing else stops me :)
As for cold weather and if everything freezes I mop and polish windows like I use to way back end of 70's early 80's. ;D
