Is it me or do you hanker for the time "when a gentleman's word was his bond " ?

iv often found that those that say "my words my bond" " put it here mate"  "on my life" "a pound to a penny" etc     are usually Arfur Daley types, wiley rogues

Honesty is not the best policy. It is the only policy.

Mere words, however honest, count for nothing until they can be backed up by actions sustained over a considerable period of time.

My old dad  used to say " a gentlemans word is as good as his bond. . . . . . dont just take his word, take his bond as well !!!  :P
