finally bought 1" transfer hose , petrol station style trigger and cheap but fast b & q sub pump as recommended by a few of you chaps. only problem is i darent start using it as it is easier to bring in the 1/2" hose reel into the house in this cold weather, need to check out those 1" couplings are they called geka? if i can get a 1" swivel and 1" to 1/2" reducer maybe i can use my old metal hose reel. do you think you can get a reducer? Dan.

yeah you will get a 1" to 1/2" reducer if you have a local pirteck or hoseline place , most garden centers will have them if they do fish pond equipment .

Cheers DS just been looking at the geka fittings and the coupling remains constant regardless of hosetail or thread size, so i can have 1/2 female thread onto hose reel and 1"hosetail to connect up to it. and 1/2" geka out the side of hosereel onto 1" transfer hose ;D

I use Geka style fittings for everything possible I also have one of the petrol pump hand thingy's...
Great thing about those fittings is the ability to swap in/out hoses quickly. I have them fitted to my tanks, 20' filters, HF5-4040....In fact the only thing that is'nt is the swivel on the reel and pole copnnections.
Sorry about the quality of the pic....going to remove that ball valve..only fitted it as I did not have a female Geka that size. Love the water meter...got it from Gardiners some time ago....
Geka fittings can be a little expensive look out for generics..also make sure you buy spare rubber seals.
