Can anyone reccomend a good product caustic or non for VERY heavily soiled ovens? ???
Im using vanquish atm which is good, but cleaned an oven today that was terrible and just couldnt clean it! it was soo dirty that i kept snapping baldes trying to scrape it.
Are some ovens just beyond cleaning?

There are a few guys on here that should be able to help you mike.

Hi Mike,
We use Vanquish. Its very good. We have tried many others and all seem to be very similar.
It may be your technique.
1. How long do you leave the chemical to soak in and work?
2. Do you pre heat the oven to 40 degrees while the chemical is soaking?
As for breaking blades.... mmmm? That's either bad quality blades or your pressing to hard which you should not be doing as you could damage the surface.

dave: do you use that technique for all ovens or just the dirty ones? i often remove as much as possible whilst it's dry and then soak it all. wonder if i'm wasting my time.

hi dave thanks for the reply. no i dont preheat the oven, just paint it on and leave for 30 mins. i did try it the first time by heating the oven first, but i found it dryed up and left a white chalky substance. maybe i heated it too hot ??? so does it make a big difference if the oven is heated to 40 degrees first?
-
Yes it does.
Now this chalky residue is where you have not cleaned the chemical / washed it away properly. (Sorry)
After cleaning an oven, turn it on for a few minutes to allow it to heat up.
Look for the residue as the customer will see this when they turn it on and this is not good as it can contaiminate the food.
If any white residue appears wash it away and re-heat to see the results

Yes I always pre heat. Obviously common sense not too hot and max is 40. Only for about 10 - 20 minutes while chemical is soaking. It helps soften the burnt on food/fat.
Oh and don't turn on the Grill! Thats only at the end to see if you have cleaned all chemical from top of the oven.
