Title: The best laid plans.....
Post by: Ian Lancaster on December 20, 2010, 05:20:07 pm
Minus 10 here last night.  Even though I've got a greenhouse heater with frost stat in the shed the pipework to my RO was frozen.  The relay box doesn't seem to be working - it should throw the relays to start the pump and open the water inlet solenoid but there's no 'click' - bit ominous :'(

The water pipe from my outside tap to my shed is garden hose with 3" foam rubber insulation and a wooden trunking but that's frozen solid too.

I won't be able to assess the damage till I've got the water supply to the shed running again - I'll have to dismantle the trunking, take off the insulation and douse the pipe with hot water to free it up.

I bypassed the auto control box and tested the pump and inlet solenoid - they're both working - just hope I haven't b******d the membrane, the pipes to and from were frozen.

I thought I'd taken all necessary precautions but some things you can't predict. :'( :'(

Our Christmas trip is off, too - weather is bl***y awful and I can't go leaving the RO not working.

I don't clean windows anymore, but my retirement fund (franchisees :P) rely on me for their pure water.
