Title: Cold WFP tips to keep going

A few tips for anyone with cold WFP to keep going.

Don't worry about the hassle of an immersion heater in your tank. Just run a 3kw fan heater in the back of your van for 20 mins or so before going out - will defrost any frozen hose etc.

My hosereel is bolt down in back of my van but if you have freestanding then leave it inside the back of van where the warm air is.

If you have custies with bigger houses where u can park on the drive - leave the engine running while you do the job with the heater blowing warm air into back of van - no freezing up - worked -3 yesterday with no probs. Its like heating your hosereel.

If you are at a single site like i was today - keep a 30m extension reel in van with your 3kw fan heater, then hook up to custies power point and leave fan heater running in back of van.

Always depressurerise your system at end of day and unscrew your strainer housing and empty water, and also release your female connector from hosereel spindle and let some water drain out, so they do not crack if water freezes.

Always bring your poles and any other gear you can inside overnight.  Get your RO system on asap when you get back in to refill tank, once its running it will not freeze.

This might seem strange...

Yesterday on my first house my 6mm microbore hose was freezing up before reaching the pole... I swapped to using my 8mm microbore hose and that worked - No freeze ups!

Thats what i use - 8mm microbore. -3 no probs.

Had one in the back of my van for 3 hours last week, didn't make a jot of difference! Got an immersion going in on monday. ;)

Serious ? I am surprised at that. What was night time low ???  I Where i am been down to about -5 i think and fan heater works - obviously keep the doors pulled to etc.

We've been down to -19. My tank was solid. Had a blow torch in it too. In the end I had to keep emptying buckets of hot water in, fortunately it was only half full.

However, last sunday when I did all this it was on the back of 3 days above 0 degrees.

this week i have assumed jets have frozen up but only got a few ice floaters in hose so i disconnected pole hose from y-piece and they have gone thourgh and i have continued to work or the ice as gone into y-piece and i have had to get ice out or disconnect hose from jets ten the blockages clear also get a double duvet for in the car or van to put over containers and trolley or van system to keep things warm it all helps and keep the water running all the time on  a low flow rate to prevent freezing up we all forget from time to time KEEP CRACKING ON LADS NO MATTER WHAT EVERYBODY WANTS CLEAN WINDOWS FOR XMAS EVEN IF THEY FREEZE UP FROM TIME TO TIME HAVE FAITH

Does not sound good advice to leave your van running in very cold weather.

Someone comes along drives away van.Then you dont receive any insurance money as you have invalidated your insurance leaving Keys in.

Not to clever. Lots of people have had their cars stolen because they have left their engines running to defrost car.sadly invalited their Insurance claim.

buy a steering lock that goes on the steering wheel or use your spare key to lock the doors,

just fit a propex heatsource 2000
in van set temp to 60degrees easy ;D ;D
