well fitted yesterday all went to plan. put it on a timer from 2 till 7 am on ecomomy 7 15p an hour .so 75p in total . Was at least -4 in north notts last night . go up this morning turned it off at 6.30 because water felt hot could not keep my hand in my 350 l tank for to long. put tds meter in read 55 degrees . Van was great too like having a big radiator in the back. went out for 8.45am worked till 3 pm when i ran out of water did 24 houses. water was warm all day , did have an old sleeping bag on the top too . today its only got above freezing for 1 hour rest of day freezing . 2 of my mates who were cleaning got very little or no work done at all. In fact came to see me in action ;D
so i say great result , and i of my mates came round tonight and we fitted one in his , and looking at the temps my other mate will wish he had done.
ps carried and used grit where necessary before the moaners start.

I fitted mine today with the help of a plumber mate, i fitted a 27" element about 5" from the bottom of a 650lt van tank, 2hrs later the water was piping hot...... result.
The tank and pipes have all been well lagged and i reckon i'm sorted for all but the worst weather now, this has to be the cheapest option of a hot water system ever..... about £40 for the bits, a couple of hours to do the job and about a £1 a day in electric.
And as a brucie bonus.... the van is lovely and warm too.

Fitted mine too, thanks for posting pics steve, and for all the other folks who've discussed the ins and outs, making it a bit easier to sort out...
Cutting a huge hole in a tank worth a couple of hundred squids is NOT a natural thing to do, I was racked with nerves doing it, but it seems to be water-tight, and within a couple of hours I had toasty very-warm water... Actually looking forward to Monday now!
