Gentle with the agitation and acidic rinse, the backing will be ok cos it shouldn't get wet  ;D

Happy cleaning

What would the best course of action be if it does have viscose in?

As you know viscose is weak when wet and can change texture. I would dri - vac then spray dri -clean solvent, then brush in. Wipe over with towels then final vac. Results aren't as good as HWE but then you don't own the rug.

good luck..

I checked the label did not mention viscose. It does say dont use optical brightners on it...
I am going to vac, pre-spray prochem natural carpet solution and rinse. then fan dry asap. I will go easy on the water.
