Looks great mate!

Whats that mark just above the Berlingo logo on the back, looks like paint fallen off? Sort that out maybe if it is!

I'd get a big cardboard print out and put it in one of the back windows saying "Ask the driver for a free quote!".

Looks good to me

Only problem where i live if I had that written on my van i'd be having to get autoglass to replace them all on the van plus it would be written slightly different up here, along the lines of "Gonnay just dae ma windaes"

them ladders are great for using round your house,iv got 1 and they pretty sturdy for step ladder work but window cleaning no good,

ant have you had many complaints about your work/finish using a pole
Title: Re: vans sorted :)
Post by: ant french on December 16, 2010, 12:22:22 pm
no but i hate using the poles i cant get a good job, i made an attachment for the pole, its a old paint roller where i cut the handle off so it slipped on my pole with a clip on the end which i wrap with a chamois to get some left over water, im getting a wfp in new yr so not to worried for now.

How did someone manage to copy your website 4 years before you opened it?
How do you fit a 3 meter pole inside the back of your van, and why are you collecting rainwater for trad cleaning?

This has got to be Bateman  ;D Could be Stu Mac too. ::)

well a 3 meter pole is in sections so it will fit in the bk of a van.
as for rainwater i found rainwater dont leave spots on the glass where as i had problems with tap water also i cut bk on liquid all together. nah not bateman

Nobody's insulting you mate  ??? You need to be truthful when posting. Most of your posts are about what you are going to do. When a new guy comes on here asking about how to start up, he won't need to hear that it's hard to get started from a bloke that spends all day on his PC instead of being out there knocking doors and dropping leaflets.

Nothing wrong with being a new on here or new to this game of window polishing. Just be careful not to give advice about stuff you haven't done yet.

If you feel insulted, can't help you mate. I'm always trying to help new guys, but only when they listen. Some of the guys on here have been going more than 30 years. If they give you advice, it would be a good idea to take it. It's no good having a sign written van then spending all day on here instead of canvassing. Your van and a funny ladder won't pay your rent.

No insult intended.

Looks like you feel like your under attack. ??? There are lots of guys not working for the last 2 weeks or so. Nothing wrong with being on here !! You need to delete some back posts of yours if you want to change your story.

You said you have 14 custies. Great we all need to start somewhere. You wanted to get 3 new custies a week, good target to aim for. Not a problem. Just try to avoid talking about your website being copied and cold hands on your ladder. You've managed to work with a tool (Wagtail) the even pro's find hard to get the knack of. Working upstairs windows with an 18 ft pole and a 6 inch Wagtail is something I'd love to watch one of the old salts on here do, let alone a newbie!! ;)

You don't have to prove anything on here mate. You will have a problem getting some people to believe you thougfh, if you spin a yarn. ;)

I'm not having a pop at you mate, just trying to help you see how things go on a forum as big as this one.

nah its ok im a touchy sod, i really wanna make this wc business work out, im to eager, like a kid at xmas  ;D ;D ;D so i try anything 6 inch wagtail 14 inch wot ever , poles bendy ladders wot ever works. the story of the ladders are i cant leave ladders on my roof i live in a bad area and to be honest i was exspecting to wake up look out the window and have my writing on my van peeled off. i have no where to store my ladders and taking them on and off would do my head in so i got them ladders. dont plan on using them on every home either. the ladders were a bargain at 40 odd quid so i grabbed the last pair they had. i use them for hard to get places like shed roofs where my poles cant get.  i dont spin yarn i always speak the truth and i just repeat to other posts what ive read on here.  :-\
Title: Re: vans sorted :)
Post by: cozy on December 16, 2010, 01:32:29 pm
That's what I thought. It will be exciting to start your own business. I thought it was a wind up. ;) By the way, you can lock your ladders onto the roof bars with a decent padlock and chain at night.

Ant, so you intend to go WFP in the new year...where are you going to get your purified water from or are you going to manufacture your own?

i have a mate who works at world of water so i get 15% discount on stuff and hes gunna sell me a r.o unit
Title: Re: vans sorted :)
Post by: p1w1 on December 16, 2010, 03:23:02 pm
have you looked into to see if someone will sell you some pure water if you only have 14 or so customers then i would try that first instead of spending on a r/o unit and all the bits untill you get more customers ..you could buy 400lt and that would last you ages.

so where are you going to store your purified water once you have RO'd it... if you don't have anywhere to store a ladder?
Paul is right, before the expense of a RO see if you can source "good" water. World of Water and such like add minerals etc to their RO'd water, so if you think of purchasing from them ask them to supply pre their treatment and after RO :)

ant i cant work your posts out 1 minute you are new to window cleaning then the next you are offering out advice?
then when questioned about you website you are accusing people of copying your website then admitting to copying someone else's
at the top of this post you say (not very happy with it but maybe thats just me) then on a post only yesterday you say. (writing is cheap i paid about 36 all up off of ebay which im well chuffed with.)

http://www.cleanitup.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=106201.0

im not having a pop but i think you need to be more consistent to be taken seriously.

But i love your post's always entertain. still cant beat the thinking about cleaning every 2 weeks for £5 instead monthly for £10 lmfao

Ant you are to defensive there are lots of people on here that have been cleaning windows for years there advice is pure gold don't throw it back at them take it. don't argue with them telling them they are wrong.

as for gutter cleaning why not? if you only have 14 customers its more income.
but you probably cant reach the guttering with them toy town ladders you bought.

I do remember a post of yours asking what ladders to buy and people even put links up for you. see if you took the advise on the ladders you would be able to reach and offer another service = more income

Banned??? why would you assume that? I can't see that he has done or said anything wrong.

I think he was taking everything people said to heart.

If your reading this ant i hope you haven't taken anything i said personally as i am a newbie and therefore not qualified to comment. although as for access equipment i have used ladders mewps scaffold towers & cradles for many years and you could have taken the advise given.

I wish you the best of luck with your business and hope it all works out for you.

I suspect after Reading the last few comments on this thread he has probably pushed the button himself and left the building
starting a new business and finding a bunch of new online friends with the same common interest he may have got carried away and excited
his posts were entertaining
but did he really deserve the abuse
I thought this forum was to help people
I doubt whether he will be back

If your not already someone who has been here before you will learn some people set up their accounts just to wind people up or just post poo as they have nothing else better to do.
He got what he deserved and is probably already back on under a different name
The fun is to work out who he is this time

Who's to say he wasn't genuine? fair enough he didn't take peoples advice but to me that was more because what people were suggesting was out of his budget, he was someone on income support trying to get going with zilch budget, I may be wrong in thinking that but so may the folk on here who thought he was a wind up, he may have been genuine? He may not? But if he was which nobody can be sure of he didn't deserve the slating you gave him. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!

I agree with h2o power cleaning,
I was in a similar boat as him not so long ago, you cant take every bit of advice you get, especially when you dont have much money you have to make do with what you can afford.
I have managed to build a succesful round that I can live off and will continue to build, Im sure he will do the same.

is it my turn to get some stick now  :-\

I just think the way in which he was treated will put other newbies like myself from asking questions and possibly migrate to other window cleaning forums
I don't know the bloke from Adam
but I think he was genuine as who would go down the road of getting a van sign written and set up a website just to come on here to wind people up
I don't think so
some may have thought he was a bit of a plum but he didn't deserve to be abused
the fella was only trying to earn a living and was on here to get a few ideas whether he took them on board was his decision
