Found out that i have lost my jobs with next due to national companys taking the contracts to the stores.
Scumbags. >:(
I will make it my mission now, if i find out any of their other jobs to undercut their prices, see how they bloody well like the taste off that!
Rant over......for now
-
thats the way all commercial is going!
they will charge a lot less and do a crap job .... stupid but thats the way it is
-
Agreed! I could charge less and do a half arsed job on select windows.
But like you say,it seems its the way these stores are going...
Thank god for the smaller loyal independant company's,without these it would all be going tits up!
-
joke is - half the time the one bigger contracter - normally London based office - just sub it out at half the cost again.
its all rubbish n stupid but they just take them on a posh lunch and have a meeting ....
-
Whats pushing my buttons at the mo is if i went round and deliberatly undercut windies on the jobs they do,it would be wrong.
But what is it if a 'national' company does if its not deliberatly undercuting??
-
its called business, just put a offer in to head office cheaper than what they are getting done for now, get the contracts and then come on here and sub it out
i was talking to a bloke whos shop use to get done 2 times a week now it will get done 1 a fortnight, just saved 75% on the window cleaning budget, and that is all that matters
-
to be fair it isnt always the contracters chasing the jobs, sometimes the job ie Next head office will want one invoice and one contracter to deal with as it cuts on time and staff needed to sort out paperwork ... then i saves them money on staff ... safe contracter schemes ....
-
ad that with bupa mate felt gutted for a bit but thats the way it goes under charge and do a half cocked job 8)
-
Its not the end off the world i know, just pushes my buttons.
Yes,it is business, but it's just the undercutting ethics of it.
-
seems the obvious solution to me to fight fire with fire and undercut again. f em, and do a poor as job as you can get away with if you know there getting crap work already?!?!
-
do u know whos got the next contracts?
-

a bet a good 80% isnt undercut prices tho - its just more about the office making the work load lighter n saving on time n staff.
-
No i don't,but it's a 3 year contract so i doubt undercutting their price would work...
-
Lost Thomsons, First Choice,& Morrisons this year, it had to happen with Next. Not many left to take off us.
-
Don't get me wrong,it's not the 1st chain i have lost, probably won't be the last but it was quite a big hit to my monthly income this time.
-
Yep mate it hurts, I find Codeine & Ibroprufon 400mg works for a while.
Sorry to hear of your loss, don't know whos got em though.
Gav Lammy will be on here soon, he will know.

if thats the case you cant compete unless your company is nationwide also :(
-
who are these big cleaning contractors taking all the chain comersial anyway? and way have they only just sprung up out of nowhere? ???
-
Got my letter to day it will stop in jan next year. big job too in side a shoping center you have to be done by 930 in the morning. Lets see how they do that?

Serious question, can't you MAKE your company look nationwide?
For example, create a professional brand that includes a smart name, a clean website and perhaps a mailbox in London as your head office. You're not doing anything dishonest.

lost a good few
wotherspoons
thomsons
greggs
nobles
argos
sure there are more
-
i think one of my supermarkets is rebranding; ie maybe a tesco :o
so i wont get that all i have left is domestic so the next idiot on here asking

-
how do u get commercial ;D

this is what a lot of its about, not just cost but much easier to manage from office view, its not hard to see that i office member to do one invoice for all stores takes little time to do but the same staff to do lots of invoices for the same work would take so much longer. its also easier to manage as only one point of call, one payment etc
if it helps we was asked to 15 stores but credit to the store managers they all wanted to carry on with there regular window cleaner, i was threatened at one point over one particular store, but i didnt canvess - i was asked to do them,
-
The store manager will still have to sign the work off to say it has been done, and accounts will still have to pay said national company,so its not really any different to now!
-
accounts will still have to pay said national company,so its not really any different to now!
what i meant was they only pay one invoice per month - 12 per yr, other way (quessing only) around 200 winow cleaners to pay each month = 2,400 per year, quite time saving for head office,
-
so where are all these big window cleaning companys springing up from all of a sudden?
-
ocs etc, they then sub it out

Way things are going don't think there will be much of a high street left soon, still shops closing down, allbeit not as many as year/couple of years ago.
-

-
Just hope when guys start targeting your work 'coz they're lozeing theirs you'll still be pysl ::)
trouble is when your asked to do the work what do you say, whilst it would be better if it all stayed local, when asked to clean or quote i doubt many would say - sorry please keep your current window clener, its called business, i wont go round undercutting but if asked to price then i will as im sure so would you, its what we do, yes you will lose some but generaly you pick up some within a short time
-
jarvy m8 aint targeted nout
its business these things happen
bigger fish than me pal
-
the shop managers dont care who cleans there windows as long as they are clean,
the problem you have is, there loads start joining all the feds and getting all the safety things and then bidding on contracts that come up, they ever bid high and dont get or bid low get and then try and sub out on here
-
itS NOT BUSINESS ITS A PRICE WAR.ITS GREED AND IT WILL NOT BE GOOD FOR THIS INDUSTRY AS ALL IT WILL SHOW THE CUSTOMER IN BUSINESSES YOU CAN GET IT CHEAPER..ITS CALL A MANOPLY. THE RESULT PRICES WILL FALL AND THE QUALITY OF THE WORK WILL REFLECT THIS.
tHE THOING TO DO IS TO HELP KILL IT. dONT HELP IT BY TAKING ON A SUB FOR LOW Payment. And if you must them do such a crap job so they loose the contract. ::) ::)
-
all ready pass on to national whos allready subbed it all out. ;)
-
;)
-
so do we know who its gone to?

I know, recon it was my time of the month yesterday ;)
Had the store manager ring me up today, and appologise. Take my hat off to him, most managers wouldn't give a toss who cleans. Even offered to write me a glowing reference if i needed it!!! (never know, somebody might ask for it before i clean their windows!!!!!! ;D )
As for working subcontract, theres the problem. If all windies said get lost to these national company's,i cant see them making it work.....but thats never going to happen, sometimes people need the money too badly!
-
