I run my pump of van battery,  but it is a
Deep cycle leisure battery, the combination
Of cold weather and constant stopping
Starting and short journeys are more likely
To kill the battery than the pump is.
I pop mine on charge at weekend just to
Keep it topped up

How do you know its pooped SB, it should be under gaurantee mate.
Make sure you get a firm fixing on the Pos:,Neg terminals, without sounding patronising, charge it overnight if its a leisure battery.

Try and get hold of an old fashioned battery and charge it over a long period.  The new modern battery chargers get a signal from the battery and thinks it's fully charged when its not.

Actually if its Purefreedoms, they only give 3 months gaurantee.

Unless the plates are knackered you might still be able to get it going again.
If its not a maintenance free battery try unscrewing the plugs on the top and checking the electrolyte level of each cell. The electrolyte should be just above the metal plate, if its low top up with pure water.
Screw the plugs back on and put on a slow charge for at least 12 hours (not a trickle charge).
If you do get it working give it a few more regular long slow charges.
I had a battery a couple of months back that was "gassing" and I did the above and got it back to life again and has been fine ever since.

No they're not mate, you should never drain a leisure battery more than 50% before recharging.

I got my leisure battery from www.tanya.co.uk
I use it 4-5 days a week, 6-7 hours a day and charge it every other day. After nearly 18months it is still going strong ( prob be flat tomorrow morning now I said that). They are expensive, but seem to last.

www.batterymegastore.co.uk

we use 2 x US Power deep cycle batteries - I think they are 170 Ah - very very expensive but guess what?  nearly 5 years old and still good as new.

we have split relays in the vans though - that always helps.
