Title: I'm not happy
Post by: Londoner on December 10, 2010, 10:50:57 pm
Just cleaned a customer today for the third time. No answer when I rang the bell but it turns out they were in but not answering the door.
Got a phone call before I reached the next customer, I'm not happy, you haven't done them properly, the windows are still wet etc.

After a long rant I said, do you think I am bothered? what do I care about a £12 customer? Don't pay me if you don't want to, it makes no difference to me. I have more customer than I know what to do with, my phone never stops ringing.

My wife says I should have gone back but I just feel that If I had she was on a mission and nothing I could have done would have changed her mind.

I enjoyed telling her to shove it, it quite made my day. Sometimes its nice to be assertive. I didn't like the woman anyway. Sometimes it feels so nice to hit back.

You're probably right mate. Take no notice of me, i'm stupid. I'd of done what his wife said........gone back and seen what the problem was. But i do like the three strikes idea too, you can just keep getting new work to replace it. Can't be doing with all that argy bargy !!!

yeah met up with Ste, Gav. Had a hot shower with his L5 !!!!!

Hey there are human and we are human and from time to time this just happens...

I would like to do the 3 strikes thingy but if I did that I reckon I would need to replace about 60 customers.

then so be it !        cast them off a.s.a.p.  and i love later getting their pathetic texts pleading for a second chance (but i never reply)   .too many people these days treat service workers badly, i was in KFC recently and no end of customers were barking their orders ,such as "hey you,  only white meat ,no legs "

and i have also seen wise guys  try to short change a newsagent when buying an evening paper

He's probably never seen her. She hides inside the house and doesn't answer the door.
I've got a couple of custies like that  ::)
I can see where Vince is coming from though, theres 1 or 2 I think I will be giving the bullet to soon.
When they don't pay up month after month I sometimes feel im wasting my time anyway so no great loss  :-\

you always get one once in a while after 4 cleans and custy been in and watching me eveytime he comes out and asks if i am finishing window s off and not leaving them wet , usual jargon , He claims he had never noticed they were left to dry naturally in the past , and asked me not to clean them again

Hi Vince
Am I missing something here? You tell us how happy it made you to tell your customer to stick it, but the title of the thread is "I'm not happy"

Its what the customer kept saying on the phone. Its not that often I'm rude to a customer but she was just spoiling for an arguement. She had always been edgy and difficult and I wonder now about the story she told me about her previous window cleaner.

Also, and I didn't mention this before, she turned me away last week when the snow was on the ground.

This sort of aggressive complaining is a form of bullying from which people get gratification. They think that by saying they are not going to pay they can hold you to ransom and have you squrming on the end of the phone. Thats what prompted my original comment to her "do you think I care?"

Anyway, it came at the end of a difficult week

In answer to another question, no she's not fit.

Pop back and have a dump on her rear door step.

You know you want to.

You owe me a new keyboard, as I spat coffee over everything.

Was she a southerner, they are a right load of miserable spineless buggers - most of them can't even look you in the eye 8)

I'd have done same - she was obviously up for it.

If they are usually OK but are rude just the once we give them one chance only - except for one who was so rude we just walked off. We had just done one window and the suds were left on it - we didn't take the money - he's got no ladders so he'd have to pay someone to clean it up  ;D

3 strikes and your out has to apply this includes 'not this time', not paying or just generally being difficult about when you come. These people can really get you down and they have to go.

Someone criticising their previous window cleaner always has the alarm bells going also..

I had a customer who let me clean all the front windows, then came out just as I had finished them , to tell me she didn't want them doing this time. No problem, said I, with a smile, as she closed the door.

A few months passed, without me going back to the house, when a customer over the road, with whom the ex-customers are friends, told me they wanted me to clean their windows again.
It was the husband who wanted me to do them, and it was the wife who had 'cancelled'. I explained that I can't do them in view of what happened to me the last time.

I did feel a bit bad, strangely enough, but then I felt I had been treated shabbily, and now never go back to anyone who treats me this way.

I am always polite, but I must admit I may be fuming underneath, and almost feel a grudging admiration for those of you who really say it how it is!

John.

Not very often, but every now and again its nice to tell them how you really feel.

Some customers just see you as a sort of whipping boy that they can take out their pent up aggression on. this one just took me at a bad time and got a mouthful back.

The custy was not fit but poo.I had this couple messing me around owed money for 4 months always saying collect at a certain time and then been out. IT drove me nuts 15 quid it was.I had some super glue in the in the van so pushed a tooth pick in the key followed by some super glue. I then moved on to my next job 5 houses down. The poor sucker came home 10 minutes and could not get into his home and it was icy cold .He had to get the locksmith out. That cost him more than 15 quid.I felt a bit better.

Don't tend to ever go back to people who think their
poope don't stink! I can tell em a mile off now . Only ever let
People owe me£40 large jobs over that get collected straight
Away , if people don't pay I don't do it. You don't go to a shoe
Shop , pick a pair of shoes then walk out and say bill me or
I'll pay next time do you? No ! So why should I have to wait
