Apart from storming into London and trying to rip it apart and hurt police officers, what are you going to buy (major wfp purchase I mean) to beat the VAT increase?
I think I'm going to buy a pole, but that's about it. I don't have much need for other kit, but now might be the time to stock up on a few things?

What £125? If you can afford something at mo get it, but i wouldnt stress about getting it to save a few pence/pounds
And sswc want a new pole lol not seen one for 5k recently lol. Id want it to clean the windows for me at that price

The VAT increase is 2.5%.
The kitchen manufacturers are advertising that now is the best time to buy to save the VAT increase. Are they going to sit back come January, February & March with no business as they sold the lot in December?
I doubt it. VAT may have gone up, but they will be sharpening their pencils - may even be better deals as they can't use VAT 'scare' tactics any longer.
IMO I personally don't see the advantage of buying a pole now for next April. When we lived in South Africa 15 years ago, inflation was running at between 25 - 30% pa. It was worth it then to buy ahead, but not for 2.5%.

Yeah, £125. still not really worth bringing a major purchase forward for that reason only IMO.

However, it might be worth a bit of extra domestic canvassing if your local competitor is vat reg'd & you are not!! ;D

if your vat registered then you claim the vat back on any purchases but now you have got another problem of telling your domestic customers (who are unlikely to be able to claim vat back) that their bill is going up two and half %

....and dont forget that there is a fuel tax increase on the 1st of Jan too !!!

i bought a 08 van and brand new hot system a saving is a saving and i would of needed one soon so im better off.
trev used that pole hanks for that i will arrange to meet you some time next week pal.

most of my customers expect a 5-10% increase in there bill as I always put my prices up and have a cull and get ready to pick up better work in the spring more money less work :)
