Anyone else found the need to recalibrate their pump and controller in this weather?
-
Yep. Max flow now and up a notch on the pressure too.
-
I only have to put the cut off up one setting, the flow remains the same, on No-1. Digi' varistream.

No..why? ;D
-
Ive found both of my pumps and controllers have needed tweaking. Saying that Im slightly suspicious one of them needs a new pressure switch or valve assembly kit ( the dodgy one keeps cycling).
-
My theory is- with virtually no flex/expansion of parts & pipes in cold conditions, the pressure in the system is transferred back to the switch/electronic unit far quicker & thus reacts faster to pressure. ;)

So would that mean the cal setting would need to be lowered or raised?

Raised, as if my theory is right it cuts out too soon if you don't. ;)

Cheers. Ill see how the second pump deals with it tomorrow. Thanks.

Do you use 6mm hose?
-
used a shurflo 100 psi pump with an old type varistream for around 5 yrs now ,
always used to adjust blue dial in winter , as it would shut pump down sooner and there is a delay in water coming through when turning flow back on,
its down to the different temp. affecting my micro bore , it expands more in summer so pump takes longer to shut off , and water gushes out when you turn flow back on ,
on the same setting in winter the micro does not expand as much , so pump shuts of sooner, i don't bother to adjust it any more.

Just to make it clear, recalibrating, I'm talking about setting the pressure cut off. As I explained above, because of the colder conditions & the effect it has on components in the system I have to higher the value by 1 notch & the odd time even 2. My digi' varistream cut off value is normally set to 6. In winter I have to up it to 7 or the pump intermittently cuts out & re starts.
However, I am at odds as to what is causing your inconsistent flow ??? Don't take this the wrong way but have you ever set the cut off value on your varistream? (mine didn't even come with instructions) ::)
Are you using standard size pole hose? what jets?
